So FH and I just bought a house together, we've been living together for most of our relationship (moved in together 3 months after we met and have been together 2 years). Lately I've been wondering if the majority of engaged couples live together or not, and if so, what has your experience been like? Do you rent or own? who is in charge of the finances, etc. Do you feel like you are missing out in a sense by living with your FH before being married, or are you happy you made the decision to live together first?
I think living together is the best thing. You get to know him in a diff. way. Also, I think it helps couples transition. I love living with FH
I'm happy we made the decision to live together, and for all of the reasons that everyone has mentioned! I love coming home from a long stressful day of work, and seeing his face. It was DEFINATLY tough at first, but I'm happy we did it before we got married. And now, owning a home is the best feeling! We're having so much fun working around the house. After the wedding, it's baby time loL!
As of December 1st me n my Fh will be living together.. I cant wait im so excitied to be able to see him everyday, We see each other once during the week and the on the weekends he lves a half hour away right now..... As far as finances go we spilt it he pays rent n cell phone i pay the rest.. (i made out in the deal) haha :)
We live together and have been for basically our whole relationship. We also have 2 kids my oldest is from a previous relationship and the baby is ours

We live together.... have been for 6 years. I handle the finances...but we kind of take of it together...I don't feel like it won't be as special after we are married...I think it is very smart to live someone first because you really learn ALOT about a person after living with them
dec 1st we will have lived together a year. at first i was soo against moving in with someone unless i was married but that obv changed lol. but im realllyy happy we did. we rent now but our goal is to buy after the wedding.
We have lived together since Jan. I love it. We rent a cottage right now. I hope we can buy a house soon after the wedding.

My mom ALWAYS told me make sure you live with the person before you get married b/c you never REALLY know a person until you live together....and its so true b/c when we first met I had an apt an he basically slept there every night...but when we finally moved in together (after 5 years of dating) it was a MAJOR change....
now we live together in a co-op...It will be three years living together Dec 1st.
he handles the finances, b/c well thats what he does for a living so I figure-why not? less for me to worry about.

Your mom is very progressive, you're lucky.
Now me, I want to kill FH half the time now, with a half hour buffer zone and AIM between us, so I can ONLY imagine when we live together. I hope our living quarters are large enough that I can have my own tv and computer, because if he's going to be breathing down my neck all the time...GAAAHHHH!!!!
I bought a house in 2003 when the market was great for a great price. He moved in with me last year, after about 8 months of dating. So now we live in our house!
FH bought a co-op around the time that we started dating. I moved in 6 months later and we've been living together for a little over 2 years. The first 2 months were hard though...getting used to all of the annoying habits, but some habits have been broken, while others I've just gotten used to, lol.
I do... we've been living together for around two years now.
we live together. we are renting a condo right now. we both handle finances at this point. FH will take over once everything is combined. I will organize everything, and hand it over, he does all the #'s makes make my head swirl, and then i mail them out. i think living together really opened our eyes. it would be strange to me to be married, and now dealing with all those small issues of living together. we also have lived together the last 3 years.
we moved in together in july so we're goin on 5 months .... we rent an apt right now... alrho id love to get out and buy a condo instead, but not in the cards just yet...everything has been good so far and im happy we did this now than after we're married... you gain alot more insight into the rel when you're living together IMO
