Who pays for bridal shower?

My mom keeps bringing up my bridal shower because I know it's really stressing her out.... She thinks the brides parents typically pay but my parents honestly have no money. I also heard that the maid of honor pays... I have 2 maids of honor (my younger sister who has no money saved and my cousin who makes a lot). What is most common? I honestly don't even want one if it's going to cause drama.

I don't think there's an appointed person & you don't need to follow any rules. For my bridal shower I will be paying along with my mom & my moh (sister). also it doesn't need to be fancy. You can even do it in a backyard with finger foods & dessert if people are short on money.

Well if you were going according to 'tradition' the bride's parents would be paying for the entire wedding which is rarely the case anymore. So I don't think that anyone has to pay for anything in particular. My sister got married a few years ago and I was young (but I was the Maid of Honor) so I paid for certain things like a specific cake she wanted, the favors, the seating cards, the decor...and I did all the work! My parents (bride's parents) split the rest 50/50 with the groom's parents. It's really different for everyone's family and it's always awkward but it will work out!

It varies. Traditionally it's the bridal party, but it's more common now for parents. My parents weren't able to really afford to contribute much to the wedding so they hosted my bridal shower.

I agree that there is no appointed person. My mother paid for mine, and I dont even remember having a conversation about it. She just did.

I never even thought about that or know the tradition but my BIG mouth said I didn't even want one and now we are 4 weeks away and I am sad I didn't have one ??

I believe the Bridal party is supposed to host your Bridal shower, but truthfully you can do it however you would like.

I agree with what everyone else said though, this can be done in whatever way fits your situation.

I threw a friend a bridal shower in NY even though she was having a much larger one in VA. It was small but I did what I could do. Your bridal shower could be in a home and someone can prepare foods. It's all about the people that are there.

I don't have a bridal party but my FMIL is throwing me a shower.

I've been in a couple weddings where me and the rest of bridal party paid for the shower (no parents chipped in) or i have been in some where the brides parents paid. I am not really sure of the set rule.

As far as mine, i haven't really talked about it, but my sister did offer to host it at her house - so we shall see!

This is my second (and final) marriage. I did not have a shower the first time because I had a large engagement party.

Now I'd love to have a shower, but I know that nobody will have the money to chip in. My mom said that I can't pay for my own shower and I guess that makes sense. Has anybody heard of a crazy bride doing it herself to avoid bothering anybody else?

This is my second marriage(and last to lol) and I was in the same position. I asked my mom to please pay for it. she agreed since we are paying the wedding ourselves, and she assigned a few friends to just handle the cake,games,decorations etc.

For my ex SIL, we did her bridal party in a house, it was much cheaper

I was my cousins MOH when she got married. Her mother refused to pay for it. So it was myself and the bridal party. We did it in someones backyard and ordered in wraps and whatnot from a local deli. It ended up being beautiful. The brides mother bought the cake and the favors.

I know for my bridal shower my mother paid for the location (none of my girls have a nice sized backyard to use)my girls paid for favors.
