I'm sure this was asked before, and I did a search, but I couldn't find a topic on it. Who pays? I have 9 people plus me who need hair and makeup. That will cost me close to $2000! How many of you are paying for your bridal parties? I want to get them jewelry for the day of as a gift and maybe an engraved makeup mirror with their names, so I can't pay for it and say it is their gift. Anyone having them pay for their own?

I've never had my hair or makeup done as a bm -- I always did my own, and was happy that way. I'm very particular about who does my hair. I don't think it is necessary for bms to get their hair and make up done professionally.

I forgot to mention that I am giving the option of just getting their hair done...I dont care if they get makeup but I would like their hair too look nice.

to be honest, i love my BMs and would be OK if they didnt get their hair/makeup done. however, it would be great if they did. I'll talk to them and see who is interested and try to set up a package deal

NO WAY am i paying for them lol but they have the option to do it themselves or get it done! I always thought it was part of being a bridesmaid. lol

OK, so I guess it is safe to say that I can ask them to pay for hair and makeup if they want it as long as I get them all a nice BM gift. Phew!

the bridal party pays you can pay if it is a gift to them for being in your bridal parrty... being that they pay they can go where ever they want to get it done or you can set it up for them if you are going to a salon or having someone come to you just give them the price ahead of time when setting it up so that they know they have to pay for it

I told my girls to do whatever they wanted in terms of hair and makeup - I did tell them I'd prefer a certain hairstyle, but it wasn't necessary. I honestly felt like they should all do their own.
That said, two of my girls did their own hair and makeup (and looked fabulous!) and one girl went to get her makeup done with a MAC artist and went to have her hair done.
I just figure that whenever I've been a BM I never had to pay a pro to do my hair or makeup and the brides have been cool about it. It would really suck if I were a BM spending all that money on dress, shoes, bach. party, etc etc, and also have to pay $$ for hair and makeup. Not that there's anything wrong with it, I just went by how I'D feel if I were a BM. JMO.

They are paying for their own hair. I have heard of some people payingfor it as their gift.

There are enough differing opinions in this thread that the OP should let her BMs know ASAP, because the standard isn't consistent. This could be an unanticipated expense for some of the BMs.
FTR, I paid for hair only for four out of five of the BMs. (The fifth was very particular about her hair--very curly and it had been messed up by strangers before.)
As for makeup, it didn't matter to me if they did it themselves or if they wanted it done professionally--but if they wanted the latter, the onus was on them to pay for it.

I am paying for for their makeup and hair but I have a very small bridal party, 2 BM, 1 Moh and 2 Moms.
