Congrats on being your friends MOH...

The MOH usually plans the bridal shower. You can have the BP involved as much or as little as you want. Of course they need to be posted on the details.

I think I have something that lists the duties, I'll be back!

Here you go!
Maid/Matron of Honor duties
- Helps bride address envelopes, record wedding gifts, shop and other important pre-wedding tasks
- Arranges bridal shower (with bridesmaids)
- Helps bride dress for ceremony
- Pays for her own wedding attire
- Arranges the bride's train and veil at the alter
- Holds grooms ring until the appropriate point in the ceremony
- Holds the brides bo-k while she exchanges rings
- Signs the wedding certificate as a witness of the wedding
- Stands in receiving line (optional)
- Helps the bride change clothes
- Takes charge of bridal gown after the wedding
- Assists the bride in any additional planning

Whew! I got this info from The Everything Wedding Book.

That would be great if you do.

Re: Who plans the bridal shower?

It depends. My mom and stepmom planned my shower. My sister (one of my MOHs) took care of the invites, my sister and best friend did the wishing well and they plus 2 other BMs got the favors. You need to speak to your friend's Mom first. If she doesn't have a Mom, then call all of the BMs and have a meeting about the bridal shower. That way you know who can afford what, and what they expect to help with. Also, I know some FMILs help too.

Editted to say: I think being a support person is the most important responsiblity you have as a MOH. I needed my MOHs and a few friends to help me with programs, candles, stuffing invites etc... Also, sometimes you need someone to invite you to a movie and NOT discuss the wedding!

Thanks. Sadly her mom passed away but I'm sure her FMIL would love to be involved in the planning as well as the BMs.
We've been waiting for this day!!!!!!
I'm sure they are all equally excited for her!!!!!

I would ask the bride's mother what she would like to do. She either wants to do it herself, or maybe want to help you and the bridal party.

OK I see her mom passed away, then ask her FMIL or maybe a close aunt or grandmother. You will names and addresses from her family and his family anyway, so it's a good time if anyone wants to offer to do so.
