Who's invited to Bridal Shower

My mother is asking for a list of people I would like invited to my bridal shower.

I have never been to one, so I am not sure how this works.

I am suppose to invite every female on our guest list?
Or only the females in my FH's immediate family (ie his mom & sisters), my close family members & close friends?

Also, what about my friends that live far (CA, GA, TN)? I don't expect them to travel for my bridal shower & travel again for the wedding. Should I invite them anyway and just let them know that I completely understand if they can't make it or not invite them at all?

I'm so lost. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Who's invited to Bridal Shower

I asked FMIL to make her own guest list so I was sure we included everyone she wanted. We did family and close friends and did not send invites to OOT guest except for my two aunts that live out of state. I did not want to put pressure on other OOT guests to travel for me twice.

Yes, this I do know. It is rude to invite someone to the shower and not the wedding!

Who's invited to Bridal Shower

Also, I don't it necessary to invite groomsmen wives/girlfriends if you are not close. Same goes for his friends significant others.

Ita! I only invited those who I am in touch with or went to their shower.

Who's invited to Bridal Shower

I invited all the females that are invited to the wedding (with the exception of girlfriends that I don't know very well.) I thought most of the OOT guests would understand that I didn't expect them there, I just wanted to extend the invitation. However, a lot of them felt bad that they couldn't make it. If I could do it again, I'd still invite OOT guests, but also personally reach out to them and let them know I don't expect them to be there.

This!! I did close family & friends and 2 of DH friends who I hung out with before. If you invite someone to the shower they should be invited to the wedding. I also invited super close OOT family/friends only but didnt expect themto make the trip just a nice gesture.

Who's invited to Bridal Shower

I just recently got a lis from my FSIL (I'm planning her shower) and she included all female family invited to the wedding and closest female friends, plus significant others of the groomsmen. There were some OOTers on the list and they'll presumably not be attending, but she feels it's nice to send them an invite so nobody feels left out. I think inviting OOTers is a personal preference.
