Who to invite with a guest?

Friends of ours in their 20 and 30s who are single are not being invited with a guest. We are paying for 95% of the wedding ourselves and need to cut back in some places.

Those in the wedding party and guests who are in a serious relationships will be invited with a guest, because we feel it is the right thing to do and appreciated the invite to other weddings when we were together but not yet engaged.

There are also no children invited to the wedding, except for the wedding party.

Now we seem to have a handful of family members who are ages ranging from 40 to 80 and are either single because they were never married or they are now widowed, and are not currently in a serious relationship. What is proper etiquette when inviting older relatives who are single? They are relatives who are pretty close to us - my mom, my godfather, an uncle, FH's grandmother, and then there is my mom's best friend, my mom's cousin, FH's dad's best friend...... I want to do the 'right thing' but I'm not sure where we can draw the line to try to save a little money.

Anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice??

Who to invite with a guest?

We invited our wedding party with guests, serious relationships and anyone who did not know a lot of people at the wedding. We would have loved to invite everyone with a guest, but like you, we are paying for 100% of our wedding and couldn't take that chance. No one has complained or asked for a guest. If they did, I would have said OK.

As for the older crowd/family, some people are widowed only a couple of years so I did not right 'and guest' on their invite so that they would not be upset. Others we offered, but no one accepted. Do what you feel right, but honestly they probably won't even bring a guest considering they are family.

Who to invite with a guest?

I agree if not in a serious relationship no guest. Its too hard when youre paying most of it yourself. This goes for older younger relative or not.

Who to invite with a guest?

I am including an 'and guest' for older relatives who are divorced/never married. I can't imagine them bringing a guest because like someone said above, they are family & will be with their family. But I just felt it was the proper thing to do in our situation.
