Who usually pays for the shower.

I'm curious..... is it usually mom, the bridesmaids, or a combination of both?
I know who is paying for my shower, I am asking about someone else's shower. TIA!

Traditionally it was the bridal party, that was back in the days when traditionally the brides parents paid for the whole wedding.

ETA: It seems to vary now. I've been in wedding parties where the BP paid and in wedding parties where the mom's paid.

My mom hosted - had it at her house and cooked all the food and bought all the supplies.

The BM's split the cost for the decorations, wishing well, and a few other things.

I think brides mom and bridesmaids all chip in and help. I am pretty sure my mom paid for everything, and she organized it by herself...this kind of upsets me if this is true. I will definitly find out after my shower...I am curious.

Both my mom and BMs chipped in.

One of my BMs from OOT was actually shocked that they asked her to chip in because where she is from they don't have huge showers (not that mine is huge, 35 people) but she had never been asked to pay before, the family always paid. Needless to say it caused some friction between the BMs.

Same for me. But traditionally, in my family, the mom always pays for the shower.

I really think it depends on who is attending.

I was part of a bridal party last year. The bridal shower was hosted at the house but the food was catered and was a party for her ENTIRE family. The mom and mother of groom did not chip in at all but yet went all out with decorations and food.

Needless to say, the bridesmaids weren't happy.

my mom paid for the lunch and the girsl paid for everyting else the favors, prize gifts little thing on the table ect...........

Traditionally, MOB and MOG are not supposed to host or pay for showers for the bride and groom and it's supposed to be the BP and/or friends of the couple. However, it seems that rule is less rigid now. In the last 3 weddings I was in (and my own) it was a combination of the BP and the moms. I will say that the older guests at one of the showers commented because a MOB's name was on the invitation as one of the hosts. You can't please everyone.
