By the way, you provide a great service with your question of the day. It allows people to become more introspective.

I used to post a word of the day in another (non-wedding) forum. It makes you realize how much READING is a part of our lives. I love learning new things.

Also, want to add, apology to all the 'non-long islanders' - i totally meant to say 'new york'...and since i work in queens and drive everyday, i consider it all one big island. and to the staten islander - i know that island very well and it's great.

so i meant new york.

anyone tell that i don't want to move to jersey? (hope FH isn't lurking)

I feel like a misplaced LI-er. Though I am barely over the county line. I look forward to not paying city taxes!!!

1. Lived at my current residence for almost 6 years.

2. I lived in Marietta, GA for a couple of months in 2002.

3. I would move down south again and I might after I get married. Houses are much cheaper down there.

My entire life. My mom's actually lived in this ouse for her entire life. Four generations of my family have lived here.

2. Have you ever lived off Long Island?
I live in Queens, which is geographically, but not politiclaly part of long island, so I guess the answer is yes and no.

3. Would you/Are you planning to move away
We're thinking of moving upstate. There is no way FH and I will be able to afford a house in LI

Only for about a year, when i went away to college and HATED IT!!
3. Would you/Are you planning to move away? No....we want to teach on LI!!

1 1/2 years

Yup. I lived outside Philly for college, in Scotland for a few months (*sigh* it was amazing), in Hoboken for a year (also amazing), and I live in Forest Hills, Queens now.

It is possible. Houses cost a lot and teachers don't make as much as in some other NY/NJ suburbs. I'd hate to leave NY completely, but it is pretty expensive here.
