For the first time ever.. and thanks to FW.. I have seen all the nominees... LOL
With the guys, it would be Freddy vs. Jason. (though I was able to get the FW to see that one too.. FW is very versatile. LOL)
THis is the only category I can name all the nominees... and if your fav movie isn't on the list, tell us... eg. Cold Mountain.

Has to be LOTR!!!!! I really didn't feel mystic river had enough for best picture...best actor, DEFINITELY, but not best pic IMO.

that is so funny.. because I liked one the best... then I liked 3.. and then 2... (I had more or a problem with the Gollem and the Trees in 2....) For 3, I was ready for Gollem.. LOL
But you are right.. all 3 were great!

LORD OF THE RINGS...hands down it was the most inspiring movie i have seen in a while. Mystic RIver...great acting...boring/predictable storyline. Seabiscuit (sp?)...good movie...just not great.
I didn't see the others.

So far I have only seen Seabiscuit (which they should have rerelaeased after the nominations), LOTR, and Master & Commander.
I can't judge for the ones I haven't seen, natch, but for the 3 I did see, it would have to be M&C. but all of them were excellent!

I loved LOTR and think it should win... in order, my favorites were 3, 1, 2.... but I could watch them all over and over again and never get sick of them!
But I voted for Mystic River. I really loved this movie too, and I think the 'Academy' will vote for this over LOTR, unfortunately.

Yes, and that's when we went to see it! (About 2 weeks ago) It was the most CROWDED theater I have ever been in... people who were showing up late had to split up because there were only single seats left! I guess that's what 7 Oscar nominations will do to ya!
It was an AWESOME movie, I'm glad I saw it. Sean Penn deserves that best actor award for sure.

I LOVED Lost in Translation, but I think LOTR will win (and deservedly so). An amazing achievement.
I'm hoping that Sofia Coppola wins best director instead. She'd be the first American woman ever to win it, and only the third woman of any nationality to win it. Go girl!

Wow.. no votes for Cabin Fever.. very surprising...
I think you all have spoken very unamiously (or close to it on who you think should win -- LOTR). It was a great movie.
I did like Mystic River. I hope the woman from Mystic nominated for best supporting actress wins.. she was wonderful. Though Renee Zwellinger in Cold Mountain was good too.
