I have been struggling financially BIG TIME since I left my job in February, and I just got the good news- I'm now getting unemployment. Aisde from the obvious financial advantage, I'm psyched to screw my ex-job. I busted my butt there for four years and they tried to change me to work nights and when I wanted to leave because of it it they told me that I wouldn't be able to get unemployment and they would contest it. Well I guess I showed them!

Unemployment was a huge help and with the internet it is soooooo easy to do!!

Unemployment payments come out of a state fund. BUT, the state fund comes from the SUI tax assessed to companies. The tax rate for a company will increase as that company has more unemployment claims posted against it.

Haha I felt the same way a year or so ago. I left (quit) my job in CT to move to IL - since it was a voluntary leave, I wasn't eligible for unemployment.
I took a temporary job at Best Buy (which I hated more than anything), and they laid me off after the Christmas season. Thanks to them laying me off, I was able to get unemployment at a rate based on my PREVIOUS employment. (Because unemployment, at least in IL, looks at dates waaay before your actual unemployment date to qualify) So basically Best Buy was paying me pretty much the same they were paying me to work my *** off to stay at home and look for a 'Good Job'. Thanks Best Buy! I really appreciated the time off!
