The ones who answered to Parents ...Is this because its usually the tradition to have the brides parents pay?

For the ones who are paying for their dress, Do/Did you expect to pay for it?

SIL OF MINE...HOWS IT GOING? We usually get all the extras...Veil...Tiara...Shoes...etc. You can have all my goodies!

We are paying for everything. Even if my mother offered, I wouldn't take it. She doesn't make much money.

I had no say, my mom was insistent on paying for my dress. My dad is helping out too.

Well, I thought I was paying for it, along w/a donation from my grandmother for 1/3 of the cost...then my Mom told me the other day she was taking care of it all for me. Unbeknownst to Dad, he has no idea how much my dress cost!!! It's mine and my Mom's little secret.

I guess all my questions comes from my experience. I just ordered my dress last wk. I shelled out the deposit of dress and was taken back that I did.
I am far from spoiled and FH and I are paying for wedding. My mom is kind of clueless to things and when my sister married (2 yrs ago) she didnt pay for dress right away, but she actually handed the cash over as a gift for X-mas, paid for the dress in full.
I dont expect anything from my parents but I was a little upset by that. I dont know if it will be that down the road she may just offer it.
See,they also gave us an e-party, my sister didnt have one. I wanted it and knew that was a deduction from our gift that they promised us(sister and I) for the wedding.

I'm a little bothered by it, I'll live!

my mom is paying. she doesn't have the means to pay for anything else, so she said she wanted to pay for my entire outfit.

i still went 'budget'--$500 dress, borrowing a veil and tiara. slip was free. i try to be economical and figure that whatever my mom saves that she was expecting to give me for my outfit can be used for something else small, like invitations.

btw...we are paying for the entire wedding.

My parents and FI's parents are giving a big chunk of money towards the wedding and my mom and dad said that they wanted to pay for my dress in addition to the 20k they are giving us - Its just something my parents always wanted to do. They are absolutely wonderful!

I'm paying for the dress and everything else. I've planned on paying for my wedding since I graduated from college.

My mom is paying for my dress, veil, and headpiece. Since I am her only child she has been very very generous.

Wow nice! My mom offered but we will see when it comes time to buy I am sure I will be paying for it.

I answered 'other' since I chose a dress that was more than my entire wardrobe budget (for me) and my mother gifted me a generous amount towards it. She said that she wanted to pay for it but neither of us thought we would fall in love with a dress that was that much $$$.

My mom and dad paid for mine for 2 reasons:
1- they are traditional and they think the parents should pay
2- they wanted it to be a gift to me

My mom originally said she wanted to pay for my dress, however the one I picked out was almost double the budget we discussed so we are going 1/2 on it-she's is wonderful, just doesn't have enough cash to finance her daughter's expensive tastes!

Well it's alittle bit of everyone..

My parents are paying for the reception, my wedding dress and accessories

We are paying for photo's, flowers, limo's, our rings, florist and dj and other little things like makeup, gifts for bridal party and parents, etc.

His parents are paying for rehersal dinner, my bridal jewelry ( a gift to me) the tuxs, and our honeymoon, their gift to us.

Both in my case

My mom picked the dress and we both fell in love with it, but it was about $500 above my budget and I didn't have the $$$ for the deposit at the time.

By the time I got upstairs my parents had paid the 50% deposit for the dress. I'm responsible for the other 50%. I already bought my veil and tiara.

My parents are also paying for most of the bridal shower which I'm surprised about.

My parents are paying for my gown/headpiece/veil/shoes. They couldn't afford to help out with any of the larger parts of the wedding, but it was important to them to at least pay for my dress, etc. It means a lot to me that they are doing this for me.

ETA: My parents are also paying for the bridal shower, with my BMs' help.
