I was just wondering who your flower girl will be. This past weekend my 6 year old boy cousin was asking me who was going to be my ring bearer. Of course I want him to be, but I don't know who the flower girl will be. He's the youngest in my family and the next youngest is me! On my fiance's side, he doesn't really have young cousins, they're our age and up, but... his mother's cousin's daughter is 5 years old. I never met her, or her mother and have no idea who they are. I feel like disconnected and weird to have someone be a flower girl who I don't know. When I asked my fiance (who's met the girl like twice) what he thinks, he's fine with it. But he has no relationship whatsoever with the girl, where we have a great relationship with my cousin! Does anyone have any comments to this situation. I mean it's not horrible having her as a flower girl, but I don't even know her and dont' even know if I will meet her before the wedding. What do you think?
Thanks! Samantha

Re: Who's your flower girl?
FHs 2 niece's will be our FGs.
As for your situation, you don't *have* to have a FG. My sister had a RB, no FG. Especially if you don't know the little girl, I really don't think it's necessary. JMO.

Re: Who's your flower girl?
My FH's daughter...she will be 7.
PS. You don't have to have a flower girl...if you don't feel connected to her in any way, why bother?

Re: Who's your flower girl?
Thanks! Will it be mean though to tell his mother that I don't want a FG?? I think she's more hooked on having the FG than I am. And then I feel that my fiance might be offended if I don't have anyone from his side of the family, then he'll think that it's 'MY' wedding and not 'OUR' wedding....

Re: Who's your flower girl?
I agree, you dont have to have one! Tell his mother that you dont feel proper asking someone to be a part of yoru wedding in that way when neither of you is very close to them. Explain that you would feel bad asking them to pay money for a dress and shoes etc considerign the relationship. I am the same way with my thinking as you, and I htink sometimes we are overly sensitive and imagine how they might feel when honestly they will most likely udnerstand!
Just make sure to use the words OUR alot!!

Re: Who's your flower girl?
We are not having a ring bearer even thoughI have a cousin who is five, he is one of those kids you cannot stand for too long, so I defintely don't want him taking an active in my wedding. FH has 3 adorable god-daughters who will be our flower girls.

Re: Who's your flower girl?
I have a very similar situation b/c the ring bearer will be my newphew(and godson) and over the summer, we were at FH's mother's house and she was like ' oh, little so-and-so can be the flower girl! she will be so excited!' I just kept silent at the time, kind of just ignoring the comment, but knowing all along that it wasn't going to work. They live out of state and I have never met them before. It is FMIL's sister's cousin or something like that and I just don't feel comfortable having a flower girl that I don't even know. I don't see FH's family often, but each time I saw FMIL, she would bring it up. Finally, I just had to say that I didn't think I was going to have a flower girl. Coming out and saying that was the best thing I did. You shouldn't have to stress over things like that with everything else going on. If you just tell you FMIL how you feel, she should respect that and let it go.

Re: Who's your flower girl?
I had four flower girls...my niece (brother's daughter), his niece (sister's daughter) and my cousin's daughters (twins).
Ring boys: we had his cousin's son, his sister's son and our godson.
