Wht are you girls having thrown?

Original post by diva7531

FH and I ahve been around and around with this, first we were gonna use bubbles, but then I read they make your hands stick and can stain dresses and tux's! So then we were gonna do a petal toos, but when I see it on TV they don't go anywhere, they're not heavy enough. I like the idea of bird seed, but hate the thought of having to pick it out of my hair! (See pic!) Anway, thought I would ask THE GIRLS! TIA

I did rose petals, it came out really nice in pictures.

It worked? I keep seeing these people thrown them and they look like feathers and don't go anywhere! I like the idea of petals. Keep the feedback coming girls!

We used them at my FBIL wedding in February. Only the bridal party threw is as we were lined on the stairs of the church as they came out. It was really cute and the pictures look amazing. I love the idea.

I of course dont have any access to the pictures here at work, but everyone threw them (i made petal cones) as we walked out of the church and it looked really nice. some of the pictures the petals came out blury but it just made the pictures better somehow. I dont know about clean up, was told i could throw petals outside and that's what i did. No one said anything about it.

We're doing rose petals, but silk ones. I really don't want to do silk ones, but the RH, where we're having the ceremony, wants them. So I guess I'm stuck. They say people slip on the real ones, and they stain (which may be true, but I'd be using ivory ones anyway), and they seemed clueless about what freeze-dried ones were, I think they just knee-jerk said 'no.'

Ladies, be careful, my church does not allow any petals of any sort, real or fake, No Birdseed and only allows very little rice, so thats why i had to choose butterflies and did wedding wands, make sure you check with them first

sorry, girls.... using butterflies sounds mean
similar to the fish in centerpiece vases, I feel bad for the little guys!

We're also not allowed to toss anything at the church.... bubbles it is! ours have either silk daisies or cherry blossoms on the cap....

No Butterflys arent harmed at all, it gives them life, you need to read up on it, its nothing like the fish at all..go to swallowtailfarms.com and read all about it...

I heard all the little pieces of paper get caught everywhere. Especially in your veil. Just something to keep in mind.

i dont know what we're doing but wanted to say GL to all the girls doing butterflies. i think its such a great idea, but have heard so many horror stories about all dead butterflies and everyone was horrified. i got too worried after hearing my sister tell story of two weddings she went to with this idea and it turned out bad. but i heard, when it works, it is great! so i really hope it works out for you girls!!

Oh ya that would be really sad. There is no way to tell either beforehand if they are alive.

Awwww

I have seen them many times and they have always arrived alive, actually it really all depends on who you buy them from, read on swallowtailfarm.com website and you must go to an actual breeder, then you wont have any problems at all. Good Luck....

We can't throw anything so in lieu of ribbon wands, we're gonna wave navy and white pennants for my Yankee theme!

Sticky bubbles
actaully, we went to a wedding and the bubbles they gave us were bad or something...they smelled like vinegar! and they left white marks on everything they landed on!
We opened our bubbles as soon as we got home and they don't smell funny and they don't leave white residue, thanks god! But I can see them being sticky if you get it on your hands.
