Why are people so mean to animals :(

How can it be illegal if they sell them in pet stores? (i'm not questioning you, i'm just curious) A friend of ours has 2 also, they are his babies.

I have two rabbits, and they are spoiled rotten! I love animals... i wanted to be a vet (for a short time), but i can't stand to see an animal injured or in pain!!

I am constantly amazed at how awful people can be to animals. I look at my spencer's face and sometimes I cry thinking that 3 families abandoned him...

I HATE HATE HATE people who are cruel to animals. There was this Newsday article a few months back about this family who were having rabbits for a family dinner and they we throwing them around (they were still alive at this point), letting their dog bite them and letting the kids practice karate chops on them. They knocked one poor rabbit unconsious and started to skin it and it woke up and was screaming in agony. These people are so stupid they videotaped themselves doing this to the poor rabbits and the whole time they were laughing their heads off. Thank God someone gave the tape to the cops but they may or may not be prosecuted for cruelity to animals.

I heard about that case... i'm glad i didn't see it though cuz i would have bawled my eyes out!! I signed the petition on that site (I live by rabbit.org!)

I LOVE animal precinct... i was trying to find out how to join them! I would love to do that! I hate to see the injured animals though... like that dog with the huge tumor that the owner didn't take care of! but it had a happy ending! People don't realize that animals experience pain too! and have feelings!

Tracy: ferrets as far as I know they are illegal in the 5 boroughs. I dont know beyond that (Nassau and Suffolk)

They are just so cute, I agree how could such a cute little animal be illegal. But they generate from the weasal family and are considered 'wild animals' so they are illegal.

But something so cute, cant be illegal. (this is our one ferret Mushy)

I could never imagine leaaving my cats, or any animals alone like that. It's unbelievable what people will do to their pets. My MIL works at NSAL and you don't even want to hear some of the stories!!! Those people should be locked up, or have to endure the same treatment that they give to their pets!!

What an a$$hole! It's even scarier to think that these people have the potential to bring children into the world! It makes me sick how people treat animals! I volunteer on Sundays to feed homeless stray cats in Patchogue and can you believe that sometimes strangers will approach me and give me s&%# about feeding them? Like they are bothering anyone? I had some moron drop a litter of kittens in the brutal cold at one of the spots. Unfortunately before we could round them up, several of them died from exposure and a few were torn up by raccoons. It was so heart wrenching. I couldn't work for Animal Precient becuase I would be inclined to beat or shoot the perpetrators. My husband was friends with Joanne Sandano on the show (dark haired cop). I have alot of admiration for her. I have rescued/adopted so many abused animals and they (despite their experiences) have been sweet and loving. One poor cat (I named her Hope because she gave me hope that anything could survive) was run over by her owner's car and he never had her legs or jaw reset. She walked almost like a frog because her legs were disfigured at the joints from not being reset. Her jaw was on a constant angle and she had no teeth. She was horribly disfigured all over. I had that poor sweet baby for only a few months when we discovered she had a grapefruit sized tumour in her stomach. The ******* couldn't even do the right thing and have her put to sleep. At least she died in the arms of someone that loved her. I had a beautiful himmie that went through six homes before I got him. The children in one home tied a cord around his tail so tight, it almost cut the tail off. He was my world - what a beautiful, loving animal. I would trade a million people for one or two animals.

I cannot understand how anyone could mistreat an animal. They are helpless. They just want to be loved and taken care of. If I was rich, I would donate a lot of money to the animal shelters.
Can you tell I'm an animal lover? I wish they could all go to loving homes.

SHEER OUTRAGE when I hear of people mistreating animals. Just because we have opposable thumbs does not give us the right to do whatever we want.

I am a HUGE animal person, and not just the cute ones either. I won't squash spiders or anything.

We always get our cats from the pound. In November I lost my beloved Red to heart disease. FH and I went to pick up a cat to keep my man Charlie with a feline friend, and I CRIED the entire time we were there. When the lady asked us which we wanted, I bawled, 'ALL OF THEM!' I could cry right here just thinking about it.

I finally get to catch up.

This little one is so tiny and so scared. He's 5 months old and when I went to hold him he hid underneath the blanket that Brian gave him.

I am actually going to finish putting his cage together and get him some toys and stuff. I feel so bad for this little ferret. He's so tiny and seems so scared.

He is so soft and cute and it breaks my heart knowing that someone was so mean to him. But in the end I think it was for the better. He is in good hands now.

Brian nicknamed our apartment the home for runaway ferrets. (His friend Heather gave us Mush because she found him on the street, had him cleaned up and taken care of, made him healthy and then asked if we would like him, Stinky same thing his friend Heather had a friend who couldnt keep him so she asked if we would take him. Now Smokey)

That is one lucky ferret...and I am so glad he found you! THis story really touched me......

I dont know how people do that....I could not imagine my life without my little girl (she's a cat). She means the world to me and would never give her up.

I find it hard to even hear stories like this. It makes me so sick and sad. THey are such helpless creatures.

Ferrets are not illegal in Suffolk County (my FI is a vet. that is listed with some Ferret Club ...I can't remember the exact name). They are so cute.
I can't tell you all the horrible things my FI has seen.

The problem in NY is that the laws are just not strict enough...animals are considered chattel (property)..and the laws reflect that. I worked at the DA's office when that whole case with the LI guy that made crushing videos of kittens, and other animals...and I was just sick to my stomach,...but there was nothing significant that could be done to him!

We need to lobby and contact our assemblymen and let them know these are the issues we care about! I really hope the law changes soon!

I didnt know they weren't illegal in Suffolk. They are very illegal in Queens.

I agree their needs to be stricter laws with animals. If anyone ever hurt my little babies I would do to them what they did to my little ones.

I get so sick and mad at people who hurt animals.

A friend of Brians takes in abused animals, loves them, gets them better then finds a good loving home for the animal. She doesnt take any more from people or anything. She just wants to find them good homes.

My mom's friend takes in abused dogs. She has her own non profit organization where she takes in the strays, takes them to the vet, gets them checked out, gets them healthy and finds homes for them.

Anyone that would abuse an animal needs to be abused.
