Why can't I get a swatch of my dress?

I ordered my Alvina Valenta gown from Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. I ordered it in Ivory. Apparently, they said that the manufacturers are no longer giving swatches of fabric.

Has anyone else encountered this?

i don't think i can get one either. I was going to ask so i could have my veil made but i vaguely remember the saleswoman saying i couldn't get a swatch from casablanca so i haven't asked.

for the record i looooove alvina valenta dresses.

my bridal shop gave me a 'swatch' by giving me a piece of fabric from another dress they were altering downstairs. she said color doesnt vary much and it should be fine.

maybe i should try harder then. I think it's the same shop. But if they aren't altering another dress similar to mine i probably can't get one.

they might be able to cut you a piece from inside the sample, if that is the same color

Thank you!!! I tried on so many dresses and then i tried on this one and I was like

I had never heard of the designer until I started I went to Bridal Reflections.

Casablanca is beautiful as well!!!!

I wish I was. I went to Mood fabrics in the city and I noticed that the Alvina Valenta headquarters were in the same building. so like the snoop that I am, I went upstairs to see if I could get a swatch. They still said 'no' it's against their policy..

oh no i really hate that it makes me want to call bridal reflections right now and see what they say! That is silly...so we can get a sample only after the dress comes in?

Yup. Apparently. Which stinks because I want to get my shoes dyed and I want to try on my veil that my mother bought me from the Phillippines.....

the first dress i ever tried on was alvina - at wedding salon. being the anti-bride that i am
i talked myself out of it because i knew my mother was going to buy my dress and I didn't want her to spend tons of money - even though she did it for my sisters and they were all oohing and ahhing over this dress on me. In retrospect, I should have gone with that and just paid the difference (i was pretty sure at the time she wouldn't let me) b/c I like my dress but don't love it. though I really think once it's all put together with the veil and shoes I'll get the effect I'm going for.

why do you need a swatch? You already have a veil right? I took some closeups of the lace on my dress.... maybe you could do something like that. Though I understand it's frustrating.

LOL Anti-Bride. You seem like the furthest thing from an antibride ever.

You will totally get the affect of the 'look' you're going for. The dress I was in love with was a Monique Lhuillier with pick up skirt. I was obsessed and I also dreamed of having a ML dress because she is a filipina as well. Which is why I am having my veil from the Philippines because I wanted to incorporate my heritage somehow.

Maybe I really don't need a swatch. I just wanted to see how it matches with my current veil and make sure it's not TOTALLY different shades of ivory.... As far as shoes are concerned, I am most likely wearing a pair of olive green satin open toes!!

I think they take it off the bottom when they hem it...
