Out of curiosity what was everyone's reasoning behind the dates they picked? Everyone asks me that and there were a number of reasons: work obligations dictated time of month, $$ and temperature dictated time of year.
I was just wondering how everyone else decided...

we also had to get married in the summer because I am a teacher and I wanted July so I wouldnt have to worry about going back to school right away.
We wanted a friday and the 14th is my moms bday so we decided that the 7th was best.
It is also one year and eight months to the day we got engaged.

Re: Why did you pick your date??
We're pretty sure that we met for the first time in August (we can't remember though!) and we love the summer, I've always wanted a summer wedding. I guess we also chose Aug. because it's not June, which is always really busy!

Date twin, people always turn their noses up when I say February. they cannot understand why anyone would get married in the winter.
I wanted an upscale black tie wedding with a huge band and excellent service. The only way we could afford to do this was to have it in the winter. The same wedding in season would or could have cost us probably 15-20K MORE than what we are paying now. Our band is CONSIDERABLY less $$$ in Feb than it would have been in say May as is our price per head in catering.
Since I was going to have a temple wedding on a Saturday night, none of my pictures would be taken outside in the daylight because I have to get married when the sun goes down. Outside pictures arent an option for us - never were. Everything, relatively speaking is cheaper in the off season. I can have the big wedding of my dreams in the winter with all of my family and friends rather than a very small wedding in season.

I am also a teacher who works summer school so getting married in thew summer, as many teachers do, was not an option either. So I chose the weekend of Presidents week so I can take fewer days off for a honeymoon.

It was after Easter (our church will not allow us to marry during Lent) and it was before the baseball season started (FI is in baseball) - and it had to be between January and May 2006, b/c I start Grad School again come September.

They're out of control - I swear! But hey, getting married when they want is better than not getting married at all - right?

Re: Why did you pick your date??
Well when I was 14, I was shopping with my sister for her prom dress. We went to a bridal salon to look at dresses there and there was a bride getting fittted for her wedding dress. Her wedding date was 11/5 of that year and for some reason that date has stuck with me all these years. Fast forward 17 years. Originally my FH and I were going to have a destination wedding but decided against it for a whole bunch of reasons. Well, we knew we wanted to get married in the Fall and when we started looking at places, November appealed to us more and more. When our place had November 5th available, we booked. After we booked, I told my FH about the date and the bride I had seen 17 years earlier. Also, November 5th is exactly 6 mos before my birthday. Not really significant to anyone else but it means a lot to me.

I agree. FH wanted to get married outside. I nixed that immediately. I am highly allergic to spring pollen and my mom would complain too much - not worth it in our case.
Also, one of FH's groomsmen is a sports writer for a major NYC newspaper covering one of the NY football teams. He wouldnt be able to participate if we got married in season.

Re: Why did you pick your date??
I've always wanted to get married in June, spring is my favorite season and May is already such a busy time in my family. I was determined to have a Saturday night, so that left 3 dates open. So I counted out when I'm supposed to get my period that month and that knocked one of the dates off. From there I decided I liked the way 6/10/06 looks and went with it!!!

Re: Why did you pick your date??
We wanted a Sunday. Something about that day of the week just appealed to us. With that in mind, we started calculating how much it would cost. We then used our respective salaries to figure out how long it would take to save the money. After figuring that out, we looked at the calendar and came up with October 8, 2006.

Re: Why did you pick your date??
We wanted either a Saturday night in May or June and my sister/MOH is graduating college in May, so we went with June. We were able to find a hall and church with June 17th open, so we went for it.
