I dont know maybe its just me but I dont see any fun of going to weddings where I dont know the bride or groom. I wont know anyone there and I'll just feel awkward. I dont see any fun in that.
So why are people that arent invited to mine, that we DONT KNOW, insist on coming??
FMIL's friend is invited to our wedding with her husband. Fine. But now she wants to know if her daughter and son in law can come. Her daughter wants to come because she has never been to a nice wedding?? You have to be kidding me. FH told his mother NO they cant come...she asked Why? He had to tell her well a) we dont know them and b) we are paying for this, you cant just add to the tab. That just gets me soo mad. She hasnt given us a dime for the wedding and she wants to add strangers.
Then FH's coworker asked if he can bring his daughter although he was invited with just his girlfriend. Im thinking the daughter is a little kid or something that cant stay home alone so I ask her age first before I say yes or no. Shes 23!! I'm sorry but no.
I think I was very generous with providing one guest with most people. I dont even want to think what mess Id be in if I didnt put the # of guests on the RSVP card.

Yeah, I dont get it either. We havent run into that yet, hopefully we wont. I truly dont understand how people dont know the etiquette...if your name is NOT on the invitation, then you are NOT invited.

I know a lot of people are against putting the # on the rsvp cards, but I'm also DEFINITELY doing it; otherwise my family members would bring everyone they know...no consideration!!

I would be like - are you freaking kidding me???
While I understand people who are trying to bring their younger kids (I'm not having kids at mine - but I get it), asking to bring a 23 year old daughter is SO different? w t f??!?!
I also understand how some people who just get an invite and respond with a date - its rude, yes, but I get it- some people just might not realize, , ,but asking to bring 2 guests (ie, a date and a daughter), that is just ridiculous. I can not see how anyone would not realize how inappropriate that is!! Some people have balls!!!!

even though i have a few ppl not listening to the # and we have to tell them no...if i didnt put a #...i'd have family members bring their neighbors or something crazy like that lol

im kind of both ways about it
we were really under our minimum so i was all about anyone who wantedto come..being that i had to pay for an extra 30 people no matter what
i had a few LIWers there that i never met and im glad they came..it let me meet the people who helped me plan my wedding and i knew they would be down for it
i had a friend that came from out of state call me about noon on wedding day asking if the guy he was staying with ( whom used to be a good friend..we just hadnt talked in a few years ) could come and i was all about it..the more the merrier
but i can see if you are already at your minimum and having to pay more why you wouldnt want them there..that makes sense

you know a lot of people do that if they bring uninvited guests..i would have someone else ask..but it might not be a bad idea..tacky or not..its mooooooney

FH and I were shocked to find people asking for an invite to our wedding. I am talking people we barely know and would never consider as a guest. It's tough to be put on the spot like that.
While FH stood, his mouth agape, I just said 'Mom is footing the bill and we haven't agreed on a final headcount or guestlist yet'
