I dont know maybe its just me but I dont see any fun of going to weddings where I dont know the bride or groom. I wont know anyone there and I'll just feel awkward. I dont see any fun in that.
So why are people that arent invited to mine, that we DONT KNOW, insist on coming??
FMIL's friend is invited to our wedding with her husband. Fine. But now she wants to know if her daughter and son in law can come. Her daughter wants to come because she has never been to a nice wedding?? You have to be kidding me. FH told his mother NO they cant come...she asked Why? He had to tell her well a) we dont know them and b) we are paying for this, you cant just add to the tab. That just gets me soo mad. She hasnt given us a dime for the wedding and she wants to add strangers.
Then FH's coworker asked if he can bring his daughter although he was invited with just his girlfriend. Im thinking the daughter is a little kid or something that cant stay home alone so I ask her age first before I say yes or no. Shes 23!! I'm sorry but no.
I think I was very generous with providing one guest with most people. I dont even want to think what mess Id be in if I didnt put the # of guests on the RSVP card.

I've been wondering the same thing and can only come up with that they want a cheap night out in a nice setting with free food and drinks. Nothing else makes sense why people would want to come to a party where they know no one and weren't officially invited in the first place.
Wedding bring out the tacky and strange in people!

I don't get it either. I would feel completely uncomfortable going to a strangers wedding. I understand where your coming from since I'm in a similar situation.
FH parents want to invite friends of theirs to our wedding because their friends invite them to their childrens wedding. Sorry but we are paying for the wedding not them.
I told FH when we start saying greeting everyone there is going to be alot of 'Hi nice to meet you. Thank you for coming to our wedding'

Thankfully we haven't had people say things like that. Well my uncle did say my 2nd cousins (his nieces that I'm not inviting) will be my flowergirls! But people you don't know, that is so stupid. People are just rude and have no class!

That is just ridiculous. You're nice enough to invite FH's coworker with his girlfriend and then he wants his daughter to come? Ask him to point you in the direction of the money tree he believes you have unlimited access to
