Has anyone else had this experience...when you tell someone your wedding date (someone who isnt a vendor) they are like wow boy do you have time...a little over anxious arent you (or something else that means why are you planning already?)

I get that a lot. But I am so glad I gave myself a lot of time. Already I have found a DJ who is already booked for my date (crazy huh?).
Besides you need time to research your vendors and save up money. I think giving yourself 1 1/2 to 2 years is perfectly normal.
My FMIL calling it 'stalling' and that if we were serious about getting married we would just do it. *rolls eyes* But she's also pissed off that we have been engaged for a whole year and didn't start looking into it or planning the wedding until a few months ago. We were just not as financially ready as we thought we were.
My mom thought I was crazy for the longest, but now she sees everything that I have to do & pay for so she gets it now.
I get the same bs from mine. I just tell her like it is. You want it tomorrow you can pay for it. and she laughs. and i just say its my day my wedding if you dont like when it is dont come! It will make my day much better anyway

ladies, same here, when i say spring 2010, my boss goes 'why are you waiting so long?' , why can't people just go 'really? oh yay!' at least a wedding is happening!

yeah, but i just tell them i want it to be perfect that's why we are waiting. also say that we don't wanna end up in the poor house so this is the best course of action for us.

Weddings are different with our generation... alot of couples are paying for it themselves. Plus, most of us work full time jobs! It takes 2 years to plan out a wedding plus continue to carry on normal life!
