Have to be sooo critical about other women. A co-worker of mine..went to a wedding recently, and said everything was beautiful except the Brides dress....(that how could the Mom or the bm let her pick out such a dress)..She stated that she looked like a weight lifter....The dress was a strapless dress, and the bride was a Big Girl...she brought in pics to show me and I thought The bride Looked Beautiful... Why do we always have to critize people?? I just hate to think what my guest are going to say about me and my wedding...Just the thought makes me sick

Re: Why do we as Women..
Was this women who criticized thin?
I have noticed that (speaking as pleasantly plump woman who is broad and not petite at all) some thin women cant believe that woman who are not a size 7 8 can actually look nice in strapless, sleaveless etc.

I agree with Wacky. I had my FH best mans wife tell me I gained weight this weekend. I was a little upset to say the least. She is a skinny twig.

Is the woman who said it single? Maybe she is jealous.

Re: Why do we as Women..
Alavatorre I worry about this as well.
I must admit I have a habit of being critical and my Fh says it is going to bite me on the A$$ one day. Last year I went to three weddings and I critcized them because:
1. One wedding did not serve wedding cake and it had 300 guests and did not have assigned seating, also they ran out of h'ors doeurves. (Family cooked the food)
2. Went to a wedding on a cruise ship- the bride and groom did not have a reception because they did not want to pay extra. So they only had a ceremony and cake for their guests.
3. Went to a wedding where they served their drinks out of an orange cooler, and also a garbage can with ice and canned soda.
Why do we do it? I do not know.

I believe people are always going to have opinions. Some people need to judge and tear another down to feel better about themself. You need not worry about what other people think about you or your wedding. What matters is what YOU think about it!!

Well this lady is 50+ have 2 daughters in her 30's not married and in no way are her daughters thin!! I guess she was trying to say that she wouldnt let her daughters choose a dress like that..That the bride should of chosen a different dress that would cover up a bit!!

Re: Why do we as Women..
nrvbrd - honestly, things like that would bother me too. While they were not rude or anything, it's definitely different then what we are used to around here.
As for the comment about the bride in the original post - OMG!! That's just awful. Just because you don't like the dress the bride is wearing does not mean that she doesn't look and FEEL beautiful!!
I really believe that every bride is beautiful - just the natural glow on their face transcends any fashion choices someone may disagree with!!
I think some of it comes from personal insecurities. Maybe your co-worker would just never wear a gown like that and feels that this person shouldn't either? I don't know.

Re: Why do we as Women..
Alvatorre women who criticize other women are not confident in themselves.
You will look beautiful.
Chubby here (me) had my doubts of looking like a whale in my dress I think I actually looked pretty good.

Re: Why do we as Women..
Sad but we do criticize. Though I don't see why she had to come running to tell you about it. I mean I may go to a wedding and not like something. I don't see the need to spread the news though.
Wacky you were a beautiful

'Pretty good'? You looked BEAUTIFUL wacky!
The woman was rude...I don't know why women feel the need to bash other women - maybe it's competition for the slim pickins in men. Who knows. We're almost programmed to think that women are bit ches and we need to accept that. Whatever.
It all goes back to the old saying...if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Re: Why do we as Women..
I agree CP,one should keep their mouth shut. Personally I dont think its nice to bash the bride on her wedding day. No matter how pretty or not so pretty a bride is they always glow and they are so proud on their wedding day, that one should just be happy and shut the f**** up!
JMO
You know I have always been plump and all my young days, club days, boy days, etc I have hung out with friends whom were a size 7 and less, and I noticed that they probably had as many insecurities as I did but they looked more appealing to the eye when it came to men.
Its this **** society we live in

Re: Why do we as Women..
I think people who are so critical and say nasty things about other people are just NOT happy with themselves.
I am a thin person, but I would NEVER dare say something about a person because of their weight!
Does being bigger than a twig make you any less beatiful?? I'm sick of that!! Women are the worst when it comes to this kind of stuff! If your hair isn't the right color, length, etc...someone has something nasty to say... Like I said...it's issues THEY are having with THEMSELVES!!
Don't let those idiots get to you!! Be proud of who you are and what makes YOU...YOU!

Re: Why do we as Women..
Wacky - What you are saying is true. One of my good friends is a size 8. (and to me looks smaller then that). Personally I would kill to be a size 8 but don't know if I ever will, but it broke my heart that she said that she wants to lose 15 pounds to get down to a 6 or maybe a 4 because at her age she shouldn't 'look fat and disgusting' in shorts. She is soooooo far from that!!!!!!!!

Re: Why do we as Women..
I have serious issues with the way women behave. A while back I posted on the NW board about how a client here at my job came in one day and looked through my wedding pictures, and commented that I looked pale and sick and that I should have gone tanning.
After the urge to beat the s hit out of her subsided, I realized that women who mock others for superficial things are usually lacking in something in their lives. I think it's disgraceful when it's done, and I think everyone woman needs to take a good hard look in the mirror before they comment on others. Usually, the problems they find in other people were/are staring them right in the face when they do.
Wacky, you looked absolutely radiant!!
Oh, btw, I wear a size 14, I have a 38D chest, and I haven't worked out since high school. I wore a strapless ballgown and I think I looked DAMN good.
