Why is everyone changing their name?

I dropped my middle name and made my maiden name my middle name. Loved taking his last name

I guess I just always new I would. I was never a big fan of my last name (not that I traded up ), and I don't identify myself with my name. I don't feel like I lost anything by changing my name but I do feel additional unity sharing a name with my husband (and our children to-be).

He was fine with keeping my name, hyphenating, whatever. Both his sisters hyphenated, but it wasn't me (and would have been a nightmare with our names).

Still not used to Mrs. R.... (I think of his mom when I here it) and I don't like things addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Al R... (I took his last name, not his first too ) but I love being Lisa R...

I am excited about changing my name. I am honored to take his name and to start our new family.

However I understand that many brides don't want to change their names for both professional and personal reasons and that is fine too. Nobody should make you feel bad. I know many people who have kept their maiden name and they are just as happily married.

I say do what's in your heart now - you can always change it later if you change your mind.

I havent decided what to do - but my fi wants me to have his last name- but he doesnt mind if I hyphenate either- he said as long as his name is somewhere around I think people think they are going to lose their identity if they change their name I guess its personal choice-

I can't wait to change my name not for any reason.. My father is a wonderful person. But I look at it as though why get married and become a family if you are not going to have the same last name. Just my opinion.

I am keeping my last name as my middle name since my hippy parents refused to give me a middle name! I am feeling sad about changing my last name, but then again, I am who I am no matter what you want to call me.

112903...to me, keeping *my* last name has nothing to do with my father - it's been *my* name for 30 years.

I've heard the 'why get married if you're not taking his name?' argument too many times...more often than not, from a divorcee. How's that for sh!ts & giggles?!?

There is nothing wrong with keeping your own last name it is just not my choice.
