Why no bouquet toss/garter toss??

Im probably doing both. I think theyre fun and not to be taken too seriously. JMO!

I see so many girls on here talk about how adamant they are on NOT doing these things...just curious as to why? Are you just worried that its uncomfortable for guests?

I might be doing something with the bouquet toss (b/c my hall has such a nice balcony over the ballroom....how could I NOT use it lol!!!) but I really don't want to do the garter toss......it's just a personal preference for me, and also b/c I've been to a couple of weddings where they got out of hand!! Not the bride & groom- but when the guy who caught it put it on the girl who caught the bo-k....let's just say I don't think there was one person left not blushing!!

We didnt do the garter but some how we ended up doing the bouquet toss....I really wanted to do both but a couple of people talked me out of it and some people where upset that we didnt. I wish we would have , I think it is so fun and cute....so enjoy!!

We are doing both even though there will only be four single guys and like three single girls but I'm doing it damit! But we're not having the guy put it on the girl, there will be some sort of twist! Prob. gonna be FH but we'll see

I am not doing either because of the amount of single people that wil be attending which is virtually nil....I am however doing the anniversary dance to give away my throw away bouquet...

Most of my freinds are married.. so no point of tossing the boK

I don't have too many single friends left and my reception is in a restaurant and not a hall with a dance floor, so i thought it would be weird...besides, when i was single I hated being pushed up to the dance floor to try and catch the bouquet.

I've been to too many weddings where no one wants to get up and do the catching...so I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. I'd rather just skip the whole thing

I am doing because I think its fun and personally, the raunchier the guy gets with the girl who catches it...the better! LOL that's just my type of humor though!

We'll be doing bo-k toss...but no garter toss. Just a garter removal because I HAVE to use 'Lay Your Hands on Me' for the song. And FH has to remove all THREE garters (as a surprise of course) representing his 3 fave teams.

I dunno...I just feel bad for the guy and girl having to do that awkward thing...so we're just not going with it.

we're doing it.....i want my single girls to get up there and have fun! and the guys love the garter thingy....i don't want them to be too embarrassed so we'll have a twist to it

We don't have too many singles attending the wedding, so we're not doing it. Plus I was traumatized when I caught the bo-k at my (male) cousin's wedding a few years ago, and the guy who caught the garter was the 14-year-old cousin of the bride. It was just really weird and I wanted to run away.

im not doing it either. I just dont like it and dont see the point of it...isnt really meaningful and doesnt symblize much so i never cared for it. I think it looks silly too. To each their own i guess

I'm skipping both. We simply chose not to do it. Felt it was not necessary and just want to enjoy the party...:)
we also a bit untraditional with a lot things that we do!

I think the garter toss is extremely tacky...

first off ALL of my friends are married with kids..haha..so there aren't really any single ladies left...and i am not really doing much traditional stuff...just not my thing...was fun when i was single in my 20's at friends weddings but at 33..you kind of grow out of it...but if you love it than go for it! It's your day!!

Re: Why no bouquet toss/garter toss??

the garter toss is a nightmare in my opinion. Alcohol + going up someone's leg = events I'd most likely prefer to forget

and the bo-k toss is lots of fun when you and your friends are 20-something, but humiliating to many when they are above that....

case in point, several years ago at my cousin's wedding, they INSISTED all unmarried women participate in the bo-k toss.... and pushed my mom - a widow - into the crowd of girls.

If that wasn't wrong enough, she caught the %#$ bo-k. This sleazy drunk guy who was hitting on me all evening caught the garter......

so, then, to add insult to injury, they insisted they go through the garter thing.... he proceded to go WAY TO HIGH up her leg.... he was trying to feel up my mom

even w/o the garter thing, I wouldn't do the bo-k toss, becuase I don't want to draw attention to the very small group of girls who are single (and almost ALL well over 30). Some are likely gay, others are divorced.... it's just not nice to do to them.

We have been the single people at the last few weddings that we went to. We never like being forced up on the floor. This is why we decided not to do it. Its all up to each couple. This was just how we felt.

I am not doing either. Reason being, last Wedding I went to, when they did that the single people lined up (Because they were dragged on the dance floor) and when the bride threw the BQ, they let it hit the floor and just stared at it. After that, realized it was not for me or my crowd.

Re: Why no bouquet toss/garter toss??

my girls will be excited about it so im def doing the bouquet toss.
i havent decided on the garter yet.
i caught a bouquet at a one of FH's friends weddings (actually it was EXACTLY one year before i got engaged) and it was really embarassing when i had to dance with the garter catcher. i wasnt embarassed at all - but he was really shy about it cause it was the grooms brother who happened to be friends with FH and he was weirded out that he had to put the garter on me and dance, even though my FH is like the least jealous person in the world. i think the garter catcher was just insecure! but either way his embarassment didnt exactly make me feel like 1000 bucks...
anyway to make a long story short i think a lot of people dont do the garter thing so that no one has to feel embarassed for whatever reasons. same with bouquets although much less embarassment.
