Im surprised that I havent been able to find much on douglaston manor on this site, especially on the reviews site.
Any particular reason?? Did they change names recently? Or have people stayed away for one reason or another?

They went through a renovation over the past year. There a few mentions if you do a search, but you're right, nothing recent. Though I do think there is a bride on here getting married there, don't know which year. You should go check it out this way you can see if you like it firsthand. I went to one of their tastings back in March.

My MOH was a BM for her friend's wedding there back in April or May & I remember her saying that the food was really good & the RH turned out gorgeous after renovations.

They were closed for months during their renovations last year. I went to view the hall during the renovations but I didn't want to book them because they were just starting their renovations and although they had pictures of what the finished hall would look like, I didn't feel comfrtable booking them. A lot of brides probably felt that way. I remember seeing one review of it and it was a good review.

hmmm you might be thinking of a different place- the outside is a golf course.
FM me if you have questions......but I agree with the other girls- there maybe a lot of girls who booked their halls before renovations were completed so they haven't gotten married yet (like me! although I booked shortly after renovations were done). Also, this is LI Weddings- so I think a lot of the girls on here live on LI and that's where they've focused their search for a hall. Even though I live in Queens, I had never heard of Douglaston until I saw them advertised in a bridal magazine.....give me about 4 weeks and I'll have a detailed review for ya! there's also Harleygirl (I think that's her name) getting married there 9/8/07 and SuzArtie getting married there in October. Oh and even though DM can accomodate more than 1 wedding at a time, when I met with my banquet manager last Friday (Thomas) he told me that I'm the only party booked at all for my night!! Lord I hope he's right!! I'd love to have the place to myself!!!
Don't be discouraged, you went and checked it out yourself, so if you & FH like it, then go with your gut and don't let a lack of reviews on LIW sway you. HTH!!
