I don't understand why people are so secretive about what they are paying for the reception per plate. I can understand nosey relatives asking, and people not wanting to say. But if someone on the forum asks you what you are paying, why would you not tell them?
I asked 3-4 people what they were paying, I decided to do it via FM just in case they were terribly concerned about privacy. Nobody wrote me back yet. I wanted to save myself the trouble of going to places that are out of my budgeted range. This is not to say everyone acted this way, quite a few people did FM me what they were paying privately without my even asking.
Is this place supposed to be about helping people out, or is it just a place to say 'We booked here, and it's so wonderful!!!'

Re: Why so secretive about pricing?
I have been to a lot of halls and I tell ya all the price quotes will be different there are a variety of things that determine the final per plate price so it varies.... I have had friends and i also coordinated weddings and some pay x amt of $'s per plate and the next another so there is not true. also most of the bridal books will give you a range..
hope this helps

Everyone is different I guess. If you do a search on price pp you will find quite a few posts in which people tell you what they are paying. My FI and I are going w/Stewart Manor Country Club. $65 pp before tax and gratuity for Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
Don't know why others won't say. Prehaps they feel they wheeled and dealed a great price and the hall asked them to say nothing because they can't 'do that for everyone' which usually makes me suspicious of the hall.
I too am at Stewart Manor. I have it Saturday Morning $65pp before tax & grat

Re: Why so secretive about pricing?
I'll answer - Atlantica ranges from anywhere to $110 a person (Friday or Sunday in off season months) to $200 a person on a Saturday night in high season depending on the package you choose. MInd you, I haven't seen their prices since June of '02 so I may be a bit off. Probably the reason they won't tell you over the phone is b/c they are one of the more expensive places on the island but if they can get you there and you love the place they may be able to make it worth your while. Re: Why so secretive about pricing?
I gladly answer all questions but since I booked most of my things in 01 and got prices for 01 I feel like my information is outdated- pricewise. Someone FMed me the other day and I told her what I paid but explained that it was 01 prices and it might be different now.

Re: Why so secretive about pricing?
Well, I'll let you know how much I paid. For a Friday night in November, $70pp (not including tax and gratuity), and besides cocktail hour food and dinner, I added on two meat carvings, unlimited shrimp for the cocktail hour and a Parisian dessert which isn't like the viennese hour, but there's a choice of coffees and pastries and cookies.

List some places that you are interested in and maybe we can help, even if we arent getting married there. I know my FH & I looked at 6 places and I know some prices that friends got for other places..... so maybe others of us can help!

Re: Why so secretive about pricing?
I was quoted $95pp + Tax & grat for a Sat night in Sept 04 at Villa Lombardi's. Sorry, I don't have info for November/December. I would imagine prices in those months should be lower.
And I know what you mean about the halls being shady with pricing over the phone. We used a little trick to get that price out of Villa's over the phone FM me if you want details. However, I'm about to leave work so I won't be checking my FM again for a couple of hours.
