One of the ladies in the office today (shes a temp...shes only here today) overheard me talking about my wedding. Shes probably in her early 40's. She just got married 3 years ago. Anyway, she tells me that I should (on the invite) print Cash gifts only She said she did it at hers b/c her family is from the mid west and they didnt want actual gifts. Um, I have never in my life ever heard of anyone putting that down.
I thought it was very strange
ETA...........I also think its very rude...i would never in my life even think of putting this on the invitation!!

Mentioning gifts in any way, shape, or form on a wedding invite is absolutely RUDE.

I think it would be totally rude to do that, but maybe it's a midwest thing? It might be common in the midwest. Still, I don't know where people you don't even know tell you what you should do with YOUR wedding.

Re: Wierd?
Regardless, it's rude. Although its customary to give a give at a wedding, it is not a requirement and definitely the bride & groom shouldn't ASK for CASH only! eek!

Re: Wierd?
There was a thread about this recently. See below and you will see what people on here think about it.
On a side note, Wedding Etiquette states that there should NEVER be any mention of gifts or registries included with a wedding invitation. EVER. EVER EVER EVER!!! Its considered very tacky. Emily Post would roll over in her grave.
(Registry information CAN be included with shower invitations or told word of mouth.)
That is so RUDE....n a lack of class..Plz do not put that on your invites!!!

Re: Wierd?
far as I knew, you arent supposed to make any mention of registries or gifts on the invitation, as its technically optional. To place it on there is kinda rude in my opinion. That is strange
