Will I have enought time?

Will I have enought time?

Let me give a little scenario. I do not have a wedding planner, everything is being done by me and my family.
Ceremony begins at 3:30pm (keep in mind it is about 1 1/2hrs away from where I live now)

The reception hall will open at 9am...I will be decorating the ceremony location and the reception hall that morning....then have to take pics before the ceremony...I will be doing my own hair and make up...will I have enough time..will I be ready by 3:30 for the ceremony. I plan on keeping all the decorations and supplies upstate at my FH's family's house (about 30mins) from the reception hall.
What do you girls think? Im I cutting it close.
I mean I plan on having everything fully assembled and decorated ex: the arch, and centerpieces....

Anyone?

I think you should delegate...your FH's family lives closer. Make a chart and assign duties. everyone can be responsible for CP's, arch, etc. You should not have to do anything...
Hope this helps!

Since you are doing a lot yourself, I would strongly suggest getting a DOC. She can help do a lot of the set up and decoration and can take over when you have to leave to get ready.

I would definitely designate certain jobs to other people, like your mom and bridesmaids, to help you get everything done. You don't want to be rushing on the morning of your wedding to get everything done.

This is probably your best bet...

I agree with the other post that FHs family should be assigned duties but would it actually work out? Will they do it? Will they be OFFENDED if you ask? I know that I personally could NOT rely on his family to do soemthing like that...

Maybe splurge and get the DOC?

What time is the hall open til the night before? That's when I think you should be dropping off a lot of the things and setting some of the stuff off. I think you will be too overwhelmed!

if you think you can handle it then go for it. but honestly, it's y our wedding day. you don't wanna put ALL that upon yourself.

i agree. while it can be helpful to delegate things to family......sometimes they don't quite understand the important of what is necessary and then they might drop the ball. a DOC will be able to do all the decorating i bet, and you won't have to worry about it. you can have the DOC be the one delegating--and therefore she/he will make sure ppl are getting their stuff DONE.

if you have to do all that yourself---decorations, hair/MU, pics b4 i guarantee that you will NOT enjoy the day the way you want. you will be way too stressed, and you don't need that on top of everything else!

My family better understand how important it is or I'll break their knee caps

i agree. but sometimes they won't get WHY you have to have the menus a certain way on the place setting....or 'what's the big deal' if the rose petals aren't put out on the place card table....etc. etc. You know? i know my family would be that way like 'who cares if the favors aren't lined up right?' or something.

they don't get that we, as brides, stress over the little things! (whether or not we should is a whole other issue!)

Re: Will I have enought time?

wooo lots of replys. Thanks girls! Lets see if I can anser them all

1- I asked if I could come the night before and set things up, but the BM said that if there is a wedding being held I cant (which is obvious), but if nothing is happen that night I can. But I can def. drop things off the night before

2- I did have a make up trail (didnt like it too much), but I was planning to do my own make up anyone, I only had a MAC rep do it because I was going to purchase the cosmetics anywhere so I figured might as well get a free trail out of it.

3- I can def. assign jobs to diff people in my bridal party they will not get offended if I ask, I just want to make sure everything is perfect, so I kinda want to do it myself..or at least supervise.

4- I dont wnat to get a DOC, because I am on a strict budget and I dont want to go over.

5- I think i might be able to pull it off lol..Im not doing anything all that special with my hair and my make up wont take me to long...I guess if I have all my supplies and decorations up and ready to go (perhaps leaving them at FMIL's house or the reception hall the night before I should be ok.

THanks for all the great tips girls!!
I will DEF have my bridal party help.....thanks!!!

Logistically, you can do it. But it will be VERY STRESSFUL!!!!!!

Can ask each family member to do a certain task? You are the bride and will need time for getting ready, applying makeup, getting dressed, etc.
Besides, people LOVE getting involved.

Wow! You are really taking on alot. I think you can do it yourself with some help, of course, and be on time. But you would have to figure out a schedule and always give yourself extra time. Then see if it's doable. Damn girl! I want to drive there myself just to help you! That's a lot of work!

Definetly have family help. Even if you have the time, you may not want to be running around making yourself anymore busy than you already will be-if that makes sense.

LOL.

Well this is the way I see it. Yes, it is a lot of work BUT..all the decorations will be ready to go...I begin to think about it and I just dont see it as being alot lol...I guess Im lucky I dont have 200+ guests...it will be a small wedding maybe 80guest..so about 10 tables..with simple center pieces..and the ceremony is at the same place outside...simple decoartions there too.
Family will def. play a major part in preparing

Re: Will I have enought time?

definitely think you're cutting it way too close. I don't suggest you spend money on a DOC, but get people to help you - you shouldn't be doing the decorating and stuff the morning of your wedding - you will be busy enough as it is! (not to mention trying to relax a little!)
