It is not a financial thing, I just really dislike videos when I am the guest at the wedding. I can't imagine all the posing and being concerned about 'smiling for the camera' all day and night, whether they ask or I will prob just feel on the spot the whole time. I want to enjoy my day not be uncomfortable!
BUT will I regret not getting it done?

Re: Will I regret NO video???
I'm not doing a video. FH and I both know we'll only watch it once or twice. We're having a family member video tape the ceremony for us. I'm more of a picture person anyway.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
My girlfriend just got married in July and told me she barely remembers anything from that day. She can't wait to see her video just to see how everything went down.
Also, my sister made a good point. I'm going to be dancing with my dad, and FH will be dancing with his mom. One day, they won't be around anymore. At least that will be a moment we can always revisit with the video.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
i know personally for me, the video is one of the most important things. things are going to go so fast that day, that your going to not realize certain things that happened. The video will serve to show you everything that went on. I know for my sweet 16, i got the video the same night, and i watched it and even that very night i was like wow when did that happen? oh i didnt realize they played that song. Plus i know i will want the video to revisit the important things like our dances with our parents, becaue one day they wont be around anymore, and thats one way i ccan show my children their grandparents and what mommys wedding was like. just my opinion though, the video may not be as important to you as it is to me. it really is a personal decision

Re: Will I regret NO video???
Personally I know that I would regret if I did't have video but pics and video were one of the most important vendors for me. I don't think you have to get the most expensive video but it will be nice to look back and have that kind of momento of your wedding.

Honestly we weren’t going to do video but I am SO happy we did. We didn’t even notice the camera that much, and there is so much that just photographs can’t capture… like our MOH/BM speeches, and our entrance, and some of the dance moves that were going on.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
if its not for a financial reason, i would go for it.
we are getting one, but because it is important to us to have it. the day will go by so fast and the video will capture what you miss or forget happened. you get to relive your day everytime you watch it.
i plan to watch my video at least once a year on our anniversary, and then also have it for our kids.

Eh, everyone says you'll regret it, but I'm not doing it. The only thing I think would be important to record would be the ceremony. I don't need video of people eating and being vulgar on the dance floor.

We're getting video only because I remember how fast our e-party flew by, I can only imagine how fast the wedding will go by. Plus with video you get to see parts of the wedding you might not remember, and it's a great keepsake to show your kids and grandkids one day.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
I was anti video the whole time planning my wedding but FH pushed for it so we got it. I am so glad we did now, we had some issues the morning of my wedding so we didnt get to take pics like we planned. We missed alot of the reception to take pics so i cant wait until i get the video to see all we missed. Honestly i didnt even know the camera guys were there and i had 2 of them. They just blend into the background and theres so much going on you wont have time to think about it. Just make sure when you meet with them you ask what kind of lighting they use and ask for no guest interviews if you dont want them bothering your guests.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
I think you will regret not doing a video. The day goes by so fast and some of the details are a little blurry looking back even just a couple of days later. I hardly saw my videographer the entire day...he was taping but he was never in the way.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
I thought the same thing (I will never watch it, don't need it, have photos, etc.) but everyone insisted that I would regret it so I got all panicky and wound up hiring an inexpensive videographer the week before my wedding. I don't regret it for a second. I missed half my wedding and can't wait to see it on video! Even if I only watch it once, I can't wait to see everyone walking down the aisle, the ceremony, first dance, speeches (my sister made me cry). Totally worth it!

Re: Will I regret NO video???
When we first started planning, my DH and I did not want a video and then two weeks before our wedding we booked our videographer and now we are glad we did. Our wedding day went by so fast and there were so many details that I would like to see like my DH walking down the aisle awaiting my entrance. I say the decision is yours. We opted for The Pros. Our videographer arrived very early and was courteous. You may want to check out when tney have a Wine & Cheese showcase and book then to receive addt'l discounts. Good Luck in your planning.

Personal choice for me, is yes I feel i will regret if i didn't have something! It doesn't have to the Pennylane video that I WANT and can not have, but a video that i can go back and watch and see all the little details that i was so busy that i missed!

I am having video because it was the one request my Mom had for the wedding. My mom told me she would prefer the video over the parent album because years from now you get to enjoy family members that are no longer around in action. After really thinking about it I decided to have video because she if felt she is right. My sister's wedding was over 10 years ago and we go back and look at my aunts and uncles that are no longer around or laugh at how young and awkward my brother was. I did make one request from my videographer....no interviews of parents or the bridal party and not to go around the tables for people to say somehing...I hate that! I just want them to capture the people, dancing and everyone having a good time.
Same exact reason it is really important to me. I've lost so many close people in my life - every home video moment or photo I have is never enough. I wish I had taken more pictures/more home movies. This is the biggest party I will ever throw and every important person that is still alive and well will be there that day. I can't imagine not having a video to look back at 5, 10, even 30 years down the road.
I also am not doing interviews, if we do - it will just be our immediate families.
Also, I said DEFINITE no to going to each tables - yes film each table but don't make everyone go around making the same general stupid comments.

Re: Will I regret NO video???
Thanks ladies!!!
I really needed to hear that, I am definitely more open to the idea now. All very valid points. We are booking with our photogs on friday so I will look into video options further with them and of course can always add it later down the line.
Keep the opinions coming!

Re: Will I regret NO video???
My videographer was not upfront, not intrusive at all. I kept forgetting he was there. And we did not do those dreadful interviews with the guest. He basically documented our event and captured things that we would have missed, or not remembered. Believe me, after the wedding you wont even remember the music played, and you won't know who danced ect. But seeing it on the video brings the wedding back to you for a lifetime of enjoyment. If you can afford it, I would recommend it.
