It is not a financial thing, I just really dislike videos when I am the guest at the wedding. I can't imagine all the posing and being concerned about 'smiling for the camera' all day and night, whether they ask or I will prob just feel on the spot the whole time. I want to enjoy my day not be uncomfortable!
BUT will I regret not getting it done?

Re: Will I regret NO video???
When i started reading this thread I was pretty convinced I wouldn't have a videographher. Mostly, it's because I haven't watched my Bat Mitzvah video since I got it. Then some of you mentioned dead relatives. My dad passed away when I was 11 and I can't remember his voice anymore. That might be reason enough to do it...
What do you guys think of hiring someone for raw footage only? Unlike the original poster, the money is an issue for me, but if you get an unedited copy, it would be a lot cheaper right? Also, maybe things have changed, but I don't need cheesy graphics and wipes. Maybe I could hire a college kid from Five Towns College to film it on a regular video camera?

Re: Will I regret NO video???
I recently got my video and I was really glad to see everything again. My videographer was very unintrusive and you barely noticed he was there. I'm definitely happy I got video.

I can't wait to get my video!! I feel like I missed so many things while being pulled away by friends and family. I can't wait to see it all!! Personally, for me, if I didn't get video, I would definitely be regretting video.
ETA- I hardly knew he was even there except for twice when we were at the park taking pics. He was out of the way during the entire reception!!

I didnt get one done and I dont mind at all. We took so many great pictures and made them into a video with music...I prefer that over a video camera in my face

Re: Will I regret NO video???
Honestly, I hated the idea of the video too and was Not going to have one, i even bought a new video camera to give a guest to film the ceremony for me. 2 weeks before the wedding i had a major panic attack and decided that i would rather regret spending the money and have the video just in case than not have one at all and never be able to create one. I found someone cheap and really good and I have to say i only have the highlights reel right now and i watch it probably once a day. I loooove it even more than I thought i ever would. There is something about the action of it being on film that doesnt quite compare to the photos and makes me feel like i am there again.
I highly suggest that if you can afford it do it you might regret it later and it will be too late.
oh and i can honestly say i never ever felt like he was in my face and he captured amazing moments i didnt even know he was there. A few times i turned around and smiled at the camera, but most of the time i ignored it and really didnt notice him there

Re: Will I regret NO video???
hi..i think u should just get it..dont leave any room in ur future for regretting things..
it's been 6 months..i dont really care for the video..but 10 years down the line when i want to remember my wedding i can always take it out and look at it..
my little cousins watched their parents wedding video..when i was going to pick Back at One as one of my songs, my 6 and 7 year old cousin was like, hey my parents used that..
so I think it's for your kids too (=

Just wanted to get some opinions...

I am going to say a big YES to this question JMO....you can relive your wedding via video more so than in pics. Also, you cannot be everywhere at your wedding and the video gives you the opportunity to see things you missed...
