Will we regret not having a video?

Original post by skew

we booked a freelance photographer and never gave any thought in re: to a videographer.

since we are paying almost $3800 for the photographer we really don't want to shell out another couple of thousand $$ for a video.

do you think we will regret our decision? and can anyone recommend a reasonably priced videographer? maybe just for the ceremony and recpetion.

thanks

if it is within your budget then I would definitely get one. you can relive your beautiful day over and over again.

I think it is worth the extra money because it is live - you are seeing and hearing people - that is especially important to me with older relatives. Maybe try calling a local college to see if someone could videotape it - I think that 5 Towns College in Dix Hills is a technical school in terms of audio/video stuff. Maybe there are students who could do this type of work much cheaper than a professional - just a thought.

YOU BETTER GET A VIDEO!
eVEN IF ITS A FRIEND WITH A CAMCORDER! You know what, the whole thing is so sureal that you dint remember half the ceremony, because you are busy thinking...oh my GOD Im getting married, concentrating on not crying, etc...
I just had a little wedding a month ago and I am so happy that i had a video (i decided about a few days prior)! They did such a great job! yes its more $$ but you'll regret it if not!!

I had my film student brother film my wedding. Don't do it!!! No friends!!! lol. Find the cheapest deal you can. A lot of the shots are dark. He left the tape in his tux pocket that had our entrance and first dance. He flet terrible and he really did not get to be part of the reception. He is an incredible editor, so he really made it great and personable, but at all cost just hire someone. (even if you have to charge it) it really lasts forever,

I think it is so important to get a video.
The day goes so fast and it's great to be able to see it all on video when it's all over.

Absolutely!!! You need a video. The day goes so fast. What better way to relive it than on video :)

We got a video for our wedding, and I'm so glad that I did because two days after our wedding, my grandmother died. I won't be getting our video for a while, but at least I can see my grandmother on it and moving and talking - something photographs can't capture.

Definitely get the video!
