I finally got the FH to take a morning off of work and come with me to see the rest of the halls on our list. We are seeing Swan Club, Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor & Stewart Manor CC.
Updated:
Saw all the halls on Saturday and probably bumped into a few LIW brides while I was at it. But now i am more confused then ever. Swan Club had fabulous grounds but the room was not to my taste. Fox Hollow's Winter Garden Room is gorgeous but there are no grounds and lots of stairs to climb. Westbury Manor has beautiful grounds with ducks and parrots and peacocks...but the room was not really to my taste and the price was the highest of all the places we saw... and Stewart Manor we elimated since we did not like it.
What Do I Do??? I am so confused.

Re: Wish me luck w/ UPDATE
hmmm what kinds of things are you looking for in a reception hall? Do you have anything in specific? For example, we knew we wanted water so we ruled certain halls out. It sounds like you want gardens. Are there any other thigns youd like? How far out on Long Island are you willing to hve your reception?

Re: Wish me luck w/ UPDATE
You may need to keep looking . . . maybe you have not found 'it', your 'dream place'.
I felt the same way. . . I tried to take all things into consideration and I am still rethinking and second guessing everything. But my advice would be to not settle.
Think about that everyone will be spending the majority of the night in the ballroom so that is what you should like the best!

Re: Wish me luck w/ UPDATE
My advice would be to keep looking....but I also think you have to make a list of whats MOST important to you. Even if you get that 'it feeling' there is always going to be at least one thing that may not be your favorite but that you could at least tolerate it b/c of all the other good things you do LOVE abt your hall.
For example I would have LOVED a beach wedding but having a Sat night affair was more important so I went with somewhere that would allow a smaller minimum.

I would keep looking. What is it that you are looking for? High/ low ceilings? gardens or grounds for outside use? marble or wood?

Re: Wish me luck w/ UPDATE
I was going back & forth between Douglaston Manor, Fox Hollow's WGP & Riviera. Even though I loved DM when we first went, it was only the 2nd place we had seen, so I wanted to see what else was out there. Then I regretted that because it made us sooooo confused lol.
What I did was sat down and made a list of all the pros and cons I could think of for each location. I also got out my calculator and figured out all the numbers for each place. From that, we were able to eliminate 1, leaving us with DM & FH.
So maybe you can make a big pros & cons list. But in the end, it really came down to where we felt we could see ourselves, and where we got that feeling that this was it.
I know it's tough, but don't settle. GL & HTH.

Re: Wish me luck w/ UPDATE
You should definitely keep looking until you find 'the place'. And you'll know it's the place too. Try - Chateau Briand, Jericho Terrace, North Ritz Club, Venetian Yacht Club. Good Luck!

I would look at more places. LI has so many places to offer. What is your taste? If you like something different and contemporary, try Metropolitan. If you want something elegant and simple- try North Ritz (That's my hall!) If you want something with a European feel, check out Jericho Terrace. Good luck!
