With the save the date cards...

Do you just put them in an envelope and mail them out? Do they have to be as fancy as your wedding invites? Thanks!

With the save the date cards...

they can be anything you want. you can do the envelope or make a postcard and get the same effect remember your stationary is the first thing your guests will see and sets the tone for the affair. I am not having a super formal affair, but I did want to establish a type of elegance. I matched my invites, stds, and thank yous together.

There is virtually no etiquette when it comes to STDs...

I am having a formal affair and my formal invitations will reflect that. However, I used Save the Date postcards b/c I wanted the date reminder to be relatively casual and get the word out. I designed the postcards using our engagement photos with a similiar color scheme as my invites will be. If you're curious, this is what my postcard looks like ---> http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b2dd39b3127cce9d5622d969980000004410

I created the design on the front but found that www.cardstore.com could print them professionally for cheaper than I could do it myself. Each STD card was 80 cents, postage is 21 cents for a grand total of $1.01 each. So easy - they even addressed and mailed them out for me.
