'Woe is me' VENT!

Do you have anyone in your life that is a 'woe is me' type of person. Someone that thrives on the attention and pity of others? I can't stand people that wallow in pity...sh1t happens...deal with it. find a way to make it better...don't sit around 'basking' in the pity of others...don't go out of your way to 'remind' people of all the 'horrors' that are happening to you...

stuff happens to people EVERY day...it's called LIFE!

ugh..sorry- I just got through dealing with the woe is me in my life. So frustrating!

I know what you mean. I have a close friend that doesn't work and she tells me all the time how hard and unfortunate her life is and I want to strangle her sometimes

Not so much 'involved in my life' - I do my best in avoiding that characteristic in the company I keep. However, yes, I came across it - all the time, especially on boards like this. Sometimes I forget, and take it personally and try to convince the person by arguing back and forth but that never works, so I IGNORE.

Ugh, can't stand the 'woe is me'!!! I mean, I understand sh!t happens and it really stinks, but if you're not DOING anything about it then you have nothing to say. I mean, I hate trying to help someone that won't help themselves!!

I know some things can't be helped and that's why you shouldn't make a big thing out of everything. But not every unfortunate event is the end of the world!!!! My mom likes to say 'build a bridge' and get over it!!!!

Jessss.....I love you for posting this!!!! It's like you were in my mind this weekend... I have a friend, who as we got older is like this...sometimes it feels so easy to just not take her calls, but then it's hard when you are friends for over 15 years!!

I am speechless....seriously, you are a tough cookie jess !!!!

I feel bad for people like that but I do not get angry, they need attention and that is sad

don't get me wrong...I know things can get bad BELIEVE ME, and I love to be able to help others- I am not saying that things have to bounce right off you..

I am talking about people that ENJOY the attention misery brings them, so that they wallow in it.

I am really a compassionate person, but when people feed off it that like a parasite, it gets to me.

I keep away from people like that...I find it kind of sad and pathetic...especially when its an older person, the kind that should have gotten their $hit together a long time ago...

I have people in my life that are worse off and constantly complaining and yet do nothing about it. I don't believe in stressing things beyond your control. However, if you do have control, then do something about it. There's only so much you can do for people before they need to get off their azz and do it on their own. I have one friend of mine who hasn't worked in the longest time and yet complains that she is still living at home with no job. It's called try looking for one!! You're 32 years old!! WTH are you waiting for!!?? Just like my brother and SIL when they waited forever for their albums, they complained but didn't do much about it!!

I tend to vent first then get over it second.

So while I realize to a lot of people on here that it seems like I am wallowing in my own self pity, the fact of the matter is, if you see me in person, you would know I'm not.

When I vent on here, I am not looking for sympathy, just plain venting. But definitely NOT looking for pity!! Maybe also to see if I am not the only person going through such BS or to make sure that I am justified in my actions or feelings. So if anyone here thinks that's what I'm doing you're sadly mistaken. And I know not many would have the balls to tell me this anyway.

uh...maybe you should relax a bit. I don't think anyone was addressing you. I said 'in my life' and I don't think LIW counts as 'in my life' in that sense- as much time as we may spend on here LOL

if you feel you may be leaving the wrong impression, that's one thing...set the record straight...you don't need to get defensive on my post. it wasn't about that.
