Oh my goodness....I just got engaged less than 2 weeks ago and I haven't even started. I just logged on again today and it seems as if people who just got engaged have their reception halls booked and photographers just everything....I feel like I'm slacking off and places will be booked. Am I just over reacting or do I have enough time????.....Ugh...Am I the only 2006 Bride that hasn't booked a place yet??? I just feel a little overwhelmed and had to vent...

ditto... i booked early because I was nervous that prices would rise after the new year... we also got pre construction pricing, so since our place opens soon we wanted to work fast... you still have plenty of time.
To me, the most important things to book right away were: hall, dj and photgrapher

No need to worry. Like everyone else has said I booked early to get the price for 2004 on a 2006 wedding. Plus, the fact that I am anal and completely impatient. My FH tells me that if I had my way we would have been married the day after he proposed to me. Just relax but I would start to get some ideas and look around.

I am anal also...I just wanted to insure that we would get the date we wanted since we are having a summer wedding. I haven;t done anything besides the church and hall. I see many 2006 Brides who have flowers, DJ, Dress, Photo and I get nervous myself! We have plenty of time

HAHAH no worries my dear, me & my FH are very anal when it comes to planning things........Take your time(but not to much time haha), & start looking for halls 1st.....Then it all tumbles down hill from there. It get addicting & you then want to book more & more vendors haha...

I havent set anything yet. My hall and church won't let me reserve anything until a year before...and without a reserved date we can't do anything else. So don't worry I haven't done a thing except get ideas.

I got engaged two months ago tonight! We booked within one month (but we wanted to beat the XMAS and New Years engagements) and we fell in love with our venue.
But since then, I have done a lot of research and NO booking. I feel fine about it.
It just turned 2005 - there are girls who got engaged and are getting married this summer! So no worries! There are plenty of vendors out there for your to choose from!

Deep Breath I felt the same way you did until I saw quite a few people who were getting married before me hadnt booked yet. You have plenty of time really. Once you start you become addicted and everything takes on a snowball effect before you know it you'll probably be almost done. Congrats

You still have time. I booked everything early for two reasons to be able to get 2004 price rates and because FI will be away for most of 2005.
Just try and start looking at halls soon so that you can make sure your date is available. Once you book the hall then you can book vendors. For now you can research on these boards different vendors that others are using or have used.

Don't sweat it at all! I booked early just because I wanted 2004 pricing on whatever we could get it on...Also FH & I work on tight schedules & can only do things during th weekend...I also have done a lot of research prior to getting engaged as both of our brothers were married in 03...We knew everything & everyone we wanted to book...
You have time, don't sweat it...Just make sure you start looking at halls, then everything will come to you from there!

DOnt be silly.....you need to live in 'i just got engaged world...and im so happy' before you come back to reality and start the planning. Lucky for all of us we have a head start...and its so early that when you start planning you will have a head start too!!!!

don't be stressed - you have plenty of time. Start with a list of what's important to you and FH - and prioritize from there.

Hi,
Welcome to the board. Dont' worry about a thing. I got engaged April 2004 and didnt start looking at halls until September. So you have time. I suggest you start looking now though. Especially if you want to find a place that does one wedding at a time.

Welcome and congrats! Don't worry, you still have time. My FI and I didn't book the hall until this past Monday. There are many good suggestions on this board that can help you. I suggest writing down some ideas you like and then exploring them.

Don't stress but get moving! I have found that doing things early gives you first pick at what you want rather than what is left.
I only booked everything so early because we have been engaged since 5/03...I needed something to do!!!
