When I was dating a guy before FH, he gave me for valentines day....a box of whitmans (EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW) chocolates, but he ate out all the caramel becuase he did not think I would like them....

He also gave me a night light....just because...

Well, I got a pair of diamond earrings - EXCEPT they were two completely different ones!! they were the fake ones that he used to wear himself; he just put them together and stuck them in a box to make it look like he bought me diamond earrings!

A bottle of some horrid perfume, like a heavy grandma smelling scent. When I smelled it I was like ohh wow thanks, as soon as he left opps it fell in the garbage, he always asked me how come you dont wear the perfume I bought you, I'm saving it for a special occassion.

Good question! My story is nowhere near as bad as some of these doozies, but an ex once gave me a coffee mug for my birthday. Talk about a totally boring and impersonal present! The mug was one of many warning signs...

I would have to say, the pleather navy blue pocketbook that looked like my grandmother would have picked it out (not from DH). Actually, I did pass it on to her and she LOVED it! I was like ???? when he gave it to me. He said he picked it out because I needed more style?!? He must have been down with the geriatric look. And I bought him a nice diamond/onyx ring

Or how about a blow up 'I love you' heart from the dollar store (for Christmas) along with a regifted teddy bear? Yeahh, there was a classic.

Firegal, you're kidding right? I would have to hit him over the head with that one...

I know my friend one year got for Christmas (they were dating like 3 years or something)...a toaster and an iron (oooh-ahhhh). This from a guy who bought his CAR a $800.00 steering wheeel. Oh yeah, for her birthday, she got 1/2 of a $80.00 charm - she had to pay for the other half. She used to work as a ball-girl for the Mets and she wanted her jersey # made into a gold charm. He said he would pay for 'half', then went out and bought himself a $2,000.00 interior for his 'car'. She stayed with him for five + years like this. I would've crowned him with the iron and told him to KMA!!

ex...New West perfume. He loved how it smelled and always wanted me to wear it. Every Christmas I'd get a bottle and put it with the other unopened ones.

FH thi s past Xmas got me 'openers' as we like to say. We usually get each other 1 big thing and a few little things to open. (openers) My openers to him are usually socks, boxers, ect.
He got me a bikini shaver UGH...and I shave very day...very close mind you...so its not like he was trying to say I needed a good shave....I'm not hairy LOL! I was so embarrassed b/c I opened it in front of his family (luckily only his sisters were looking at me at the time. I hid it right away and had FH put it in a diff room. FSIL's wanted to know what it was..I would not tell them, and one asked if it took batteries...Then you all know what she thought it was then!
Well hee did better Vday...I got a teddy bear, a rose, a votive candle holder, and a cute card. I guess he learned after that that 'openers' should still be something nice!
