I don't think so. I got engaged after my cousin actually and I wanted a June wedding, but she already had hers planned for November, so hers would be after mine. I asked her if she minded and she didn't so we went forward with the date.

I think I could handle a month - I might be annoyed if it was any closer than that (simply because it would be a burden on the relatives and they might have to choose one or the other).

My brother did a very similar thing to me. He got engaged 6 months after us & decided to get married 2 months before us, so yes, I would get mad, as I did with him & his fioncee.

Can I ask why that made you mad? I don't get it...just curious

no.... i think you realize what's really important - family! and more good celebrations doesn't make yours less important!

my friend got engaged before me - and the only time i got a little upset is when i didn't know when her wedding was - she had told others but not me (she just didnt' get around to it - so it wasn't her fault). i was interested in knowing since it is 2 months before mine and i thought it would be fun to plan together.

i think you got it right on that one!

it would not bother me one bit! Everyone has their reasons to why the pick a certain month or time to get married. I would be so excited for my cousin if that happened. I think being upset or mad over something like that is childish!

Well.. for one.. My brother never even thought of marriage until I got engaged. All of a sudden he decided to get a ring for his FI.

2nd.. Its a finanical burden on my mom to have two weddings so close together

3rd.. Whoever is coming from overseas has to stay in the US longer then they anticipated to avoid going back & forth.. which is a finanical burden on them (Its actually cheaper for them to come back & forth then for them to extend there stay) They would rather just stay longer then travel back & forth twice in a two month span

Theres so much more to it.. My FI & I were mad at first, but we got over it.. its really no biggie now. Was I mad in the begining? Absolutely... Now?? Doesn't bother me.

It wouldn't bother me. My older sister is getting married 6 months after us and I feel like i can help her with so many things. FSIL just got engaged and booked her wedding for 2 months after my sister's wedding. So although I have many weddings to go to in 06, I am not angry.

I agree that you shouldn't share your special ideas. Keep those for yourself.

I would bother me to no end. The only way it wouldn't bother me if she and her boyfriend were dating a lot longer than me and my boyfriend.

I'm in a similar situation. MY cousin got engaged after me and is getting married before me. The thing that bothers me is that it's not a month before, but a WEEK before.

I wouldn't be mad, but I have to admit I would be alittle bit bummed. We have friends who are getting married 8 months before us and got engaged after us and it kinda stinks to see them go through all the fun stuff first. I don't know how to explain it... I guess you could call me a bridezilla!
