FMIL was wearing the same color as your bridesmaids?

Not at all- really ladies in the end... What difference does it make? If she likes that color then take it as a compliment to your good taste.

That is how I feel also. I wouldn't be mad, but I would be happier if she wore a different color.

Re: Would you be mad if. . . .
HAHAHA did I write this thread???
I asked my MIL not to wear lavendar. She bought a periwinkle dress. Then a month before the wedding she bought the same dress (that she had in Periwinkle) in lavendar. She did this just to Pi$$ me off. I think if you asked her not to do it and she did anyway I would be mad. But if she did it and you didn't talk to her or ask her not to wear that color then you can't be mad. In the end people laughed at her. Mothers are suppose to stand out not blend in.
Here is some of the thread where I wrote this. Notice how snotty she is. She is pretty Clueless.
MY FMIL DRESS! My Bridesmaids are wearing Lilac dresses. My FMIL told my FH i am going to wear a lilac dress. He asked her not to. He told her she asked her own mother not to wear lilac adn she isnt. It would really upset her if u wear a lilac dress! So she tells us I bought a periwinkle dress whatever. Yesterday my FSIL calls me up and says my mom just showed me her dress. Its LILAC. WHATTT!!!!! its the same dress as her peri dress but in Lilac. And when she said I thought Kristin asked u not to wear lilac she laughed and said what are they going to do that day make me leave??? Is she for REAL! today she is telling my FSIL I am losing a son. Ok no joke she moved to Florida 3 years ago. just up and left left her husband here (yup they are still married but she lives here) and her kids.
Needless to say I didn't let it upset me that day I let it go. My SIL told her off a few months later.

No. It would be worse if she had wanted to wear lime green, or neon pink, or something else that clashed.
Or if the BMs were in black and she decided to wear lemon yellow.

I wouldn't care. If MIL wants to try to look young and fit in with the BM's, than more power to her

Re: Would you be mad if. . . .
mine is!
I didn't realize that I needed to explain it, since she was MOB for FSIL. It shouldn't be hard; if you're the FMIL, don't wear white, the same color as the BMs or the same color as MOB.
I was annoyed at first, don't care about it right now, and will probably be miffed again when I actually see the dress.

Even if it's the same color, the design will be different. My FMIL and my Gma have been making a big deal outa this, but I told them not to worry and if they like their dress and are comfy, that's what's most important

I don't know if I would be mad, but it would look rediculous. My FMIL wants me to go shopping with her so she gets the right color. I think she's asked me a dozen times. Your FMIL should have done the same.

Re: Would you be mad if. . . .
Thank you for your responses. Yes I am a regular poster posting under a different name . . .
And that is just it- I don't know how to feel- I am not mad anymore, more disappointed. Although I can't post the entire situation, because who knows who comes on these threads, let's just say there is more to the situation . . .
I don't know, I just don't quite get it- why would someone knowing the color of the bridesmaid's dresses choose to match them? Wouldn't you want to be different and look like a parent and not a bridesmaid?
All in all it is not my problem- and thanks for helping me to reach that conclusion.

Quite honestly - my mother, my MIL and my bridesmaids ALL wore the same color and it wasn't a big deal at all. I think it actually looked really good in the pictures!

Re: Would you be mad if. . . .
My mother's dress happened to be almost the same color, which neither one of us had a problem with. Now she is looking for another dress because people keep telling her you are NOT supposed to match the bridemaids, you will take away from the bridal party...neither of us ever hear this rule before. But now she is paranoid and is shopping elsewhere. I told her to keep the dress and wear it. So dumb

Not at all. Dress color is one thing I am not worrying about at all. If my FMIL and my Mom both want to wear white, I'd be OK with that too...I so am not stressing it. I pick my battles!
I Agree!!

Re: Would you be mad if. . . .
I wouldn't be mad. But, I would guess she would want to stand out as the Mother and not a Bridesmaid. My mom or MIL did not wear the same colors as the bms but they did compliment their dresses.
