Would you be mad or upset????W/POLL

I need your help ladies to settle this debate b/c my mom and I.....
I am getting married on Nov.2 07-which is my 10 yr anniversary and we booked it years ago...
Now my brother and his girlfriend are looking at dates for 08 and they chose Nov. 2

Now I am very upset and I don't understand why they had to pick our exact day...My mom says I am overreacting and she doesn't see the big deal...

My question to you is Would you be mad or upset if your brother/sister got married on the same date as you?

I say who cares, it's not as if it's your own national holiday... maybe in 25 yrs you can have an anniversary party together It's really not the end of the world imho

I would be very upset. I don't see how that would work being that you have the same family. It would be too much in one day. There is more than enough time to pick another date, even if they want November also. I'm sorry your mother isn't backing you up on this. I hope it works out.

You could try to think of it this way, you can almost relive your wedding on your one yr anniversary. But maybe you could call your brother directly or hid FI and ask if they would want to spend their 1 yr anniversary at someone else's wedding. Damn, I'm on the fence on this one. November 2 is a fantastic day (my birthday!) It seems silly to me that they would choose exactly one year after you, people at their wedding are going to be congratulating you all night... but what can you do? Think of it as a good thing, maybe in the future (assuming you are all close with one another) you can do join parties or vacations on that fabulous day.

LMAO, I read that entire post wrong....note to self, always drink coffee before coming on LIW....

I would be upset, I was upset that FH sister picked exactly one year to the day in 08 for her wedding, even though it wasnt the same day....

But in all honesty, make some jokes with them, like you better dedicate our wedding song to us since it'll be our anniversary! It will be ok...

I wouldn't be mad... I think next year... no one will remember the date you got married on anyway...

Well unless its your parents and closest friends...

But I don't remember dates like that... maybe its just me... but I went to 3 weddings last year ask me what date they were on... I couldn't even tell you the month.

i think i would be upset too. you have a special day and it means something to you. maybe it means something to them too. its a year later, so that isnt as bad as them planning everything the same exact day....it will be fine.

On one hand there are 364 other days they could set as the date. On the other hand I think it will only be awkward on your first anniversary... lik eif you had wanted to plan something special. I completely understand how you feel and it would bother me too.

I agree with most, you can always looks at it this way YOU are getting married first on that date.

I wouldn't be upset unless their wedding would ruin a 1 year anniversary trip or something like that. I don't really think it's a big deal.

i think i would be alitte upset at first your date has meaning and they could pick another day. but in the bigger picture its ok

I think your probably feeling like that date 11-02 has had meaning for you as a couple for so long that their kind of stealing it.....but in the bigger picture, it is just a date on the calendar in 08- which happens to be your 1 year anniversary. some of the other girls are right, b/c it will put a little bit of a spotlight on you guys that night- whether its a special dance or mention of your 1 year anniversary.

I'm sorry that you & your mom are fighting about this, but try to see it in the grand scheme of things. Think of it this way, how would you have felt if your brother got married on 11-02-06, and you wanted to get married on 11-02-07- I'm sure it would bother you if he told you he had a problem with you getting married on his 1 year anniversary. good luck with everything!! don't let this become a rift with your brother or your mom....it will all work out!!
