I need your help ladies to settle this debate b/c my mom and I..... I am getting married on Nov.2 07-which is my 10 yr anniversary and we booked it years ago... Now my brother and his girlfriend are looking at dates for 08 and they chose Nov. 2
Now I am very upset and I don't understand why they had to pick our exact day...My mom says I am overreacting and she doesn't see the big deal...
My question to you is Would you be mad or upset if your brother/sister got married on the same date as you?
TIA

I wouldn't mind. Look at it this way, you'll already have a pre-planned party to attend for your first anniversary!

I wouldn't be upset at all- I'd just make my brother have the DJ announce that it's out 1yr anniversary.

I wouldn't be upset either. It's a year after, it's not like it's the next day or right before. Enjoy your day and I bet a year from now you will feel silly for even worrying about it.

I would be sooo upset! There are 365 days in a year, why could they not have found a different one. Even if it were the weekend before or after.

I don't think it would bother me. I'd find it odd they wanted that date, but it is a whole year later. If they do choose that date, there's nothing you can do so try to make the best of it. You can celebrate together!

i replied on the bhb thread but i'll say the only thing that stinks is that if you had plans for your 1 year anniversary than, it would suck. many couples travel on their first anniversary..

I say who cares, it's not as if it's your own national holiday... maybe in 25 yrs you can have an anniversary party together It's really not the end of the world imho
ditto!!

FH and I are getting married on his brother and sis-in-law anniversary. His sister-in-law was mad because we choosed that date. She was really upset and asked us to change it. Well, we didn't because they have been married for 18 years!
I know she is still annoyed, but we didn't do it on purpose, that date was available and we took it. I wouldn't be mad you could always spend your anniversarys together

It wouldn't bother me personally, but I can definitely see where you are coming from. My sister got married on Nov. 2nd in 1991 and my date is Nov. 3rd of this year. Even though it is the day after and years later, I called her to make sure she didn't mind. Maybe you can think of it in a different way, like that day will bring them the same wonderful luck with their marriage as you had.
I would be so pissed off! Before I picked my date I took out my calendar to see when people's birthdays, anniversaries and such fell on so that I could have my day to myself and so that I wouldn't take away from thier day. That's BS.
