Would you be offended?

Would you be offended?

Would you be offended if you were only invited to the reception and not the wedding? We want to keep our wedding ceremony small but I don't want to offend anyone.

How do you do that?

When we sent our invites the reception card didnt have much info except tiem and place, the card had the date and church.....

I dont know that I would be offended but I would be confused and probably be like 'are they kidding me?'

Remember alot of your guests will not come to the ceremony unless its at the hall just before. Alot of people choose just to go to the hall especially if there is a time gap between!

I'm confused as to why you want to do this...But I say go for it if that's what you want to do. I think ironically it's less offensive than just inviting someone to the church--which is what I plan to do. (Though I will just be doing that by word of mouth, not with actual invitations.)

I voted yes. I would feel it's only for my gift then that I'm invited to the reception. If you want your ceremony small and private either pare down the whole wedding or have them at different times.

i agree most ppl don't show to the ceremony, usually just close family and close friends, or ppl who want to wish u well, but cant make it to the reception.

I'd be more confuesd than offended.
If its worded properly- liek a regular invitation to a party, that would be fine.
I know some people who have been invited to Morman wedidngs , but only qualifying Mormons can go to the ceremony. They understood.

Personally, I would think that is kind of odd and im sure you will have people questioning it.

Is it worth the trouble?

Most people probably won't attend the ceremony to begin with.

for some people (like me) the ceremony means a tad more then reception..

call me dumb but the wedding is about being married...the partying part is a bouns

if worded correctly...sure, it would work.
i am doing the opposite..

i'll probally have an open invite to ceremony (maininly for work people)

A friend of mine did this and everyone seemed fine with it. It made them feel less guilty for not wanting/making it to the ceremony.

JMO but i think it's rude. - i'd be a little offended - the 'wedding' is the ceremony, NOT the party afterwards. - i'd be like WHY can't I go watch them get marreid??

I'd be really confused. I would just assume I was invited to the ceremony if I was invited to the reception. It is going to be tough to spell that out for people and I think they will be confused or offended.
Why keep it small?

From what I know a lot of people normally skip the ceremony if it's at a church. I wouldn't be offended if you said that, but I can see how others would.

i would be really offended - like i am not good enough to attend the wedding , but i can come to the party and bring a gift -
i think the wedding is about the ceremony and not the party - but that is just me
if you dont want them at the ceremony dont invite them at all

Re: Would you be offended?

If they are on the same day, I would be offended. You want to celebrate with me and you expect me to bring a gift, but I don't get to see the most important moment at all? That is strange.

If you do it another time, then its not so bad.
