Re: would you be offended?
That is very very rude!!! We didn't have a formal E-party just family and some additional people sent us gifts from our registry but it was never expected of them. Thats insane they would say that.

what they did was extremely tacky, who sends out an email and then makes phone calls! I would be so pi$$ed if I got a phone call asking for a gift!! Soo rude!

Re: would you be offended?
Oh wow! I would totally be offended. You are not obligated to buy anyone a gift just because they got engaged. Usually the gifts come in conjunction with a party of some sort. Of course if you are close to the couple then you might want to buy them something just because... but again not obligated. When we first got engaged.. everyone was buying us Champagne to celebrate. Now I HATE champagne (gives me major hearburn) but I was nice about it.. and thanked them and even opened bottles with them and drank it just to not be rude about it. I try to go out of my way to not be rude sometimes.. too bad more people aren't like that. But he put his foot in his own mouth by contacting you for a gift... because you already purchased one. I hope he felt kinda dumb. The other thing.. are they going to contact all their guests after the wedding to say something if they feel their gift was not adequate?? You don't call people to ask where your gift is EVER! Also, the way she sent out the notification of the registry being complete... that was a little off kilter as well... well actually that was rude too. I'm kinda thinking you should buy them a book on wedding etiquitte. In all seriousness... she should have one.
