My friend knows that FH and I have two dogs, both black pugs . . .

So we're together this weekend and see a fawn pug (the tan ones with a black face, which are more common than the black pugs) and she says 'I'm sorry, but the tan ones are so much cuter than the black ones.'

I'm like 'ummm, thank you for insulting my dogs'...

How would she like if I said to her (someday if she ever has a child) . .. You know, I'm sorry, but to be honest, Jennifer's daughter's hair is so much prettier than your daughter's hair???

Not everyone (you included, this is where I mention you ) get the fact that people love their pets so much that someone's comments could actually hurt them.

Agreed - and this is where perhaps I might be insensitive. I guess what I was trying to say (maybe not too eloquently) is that I don't usually comment on people's pets, but I don't think I would think about it the same way as those who love them the way you all do.

I totally understand. My kitty has a hanging belly but he's not fat, or at least not to me. I findi t more insulting if someone calls him fat than if they were to call me fat! I'm very protective of my kitty. So I understand. Your friend made a very rude comment.

Yes, I would be annoyed! Comments about my pets get me steamed. I especially CANNOT STAND people who say 'I hate cats!', knowing I have three of them.

Her comments were insensitive, but I'm sure she didn't think/take it that way. Some people are totally clueless when they say things...

Yes, I hate when people feel like they can insult your dog. It happens to me quite often. I am going to start telling these people that they are ugly see how they like it.

If someone is not commenting on how *loud* my pug is, they are making faces and *ewwww* comments about my crested. Really ticks me off.
