Would you be ticked?

Would you be ticked?

So the post office seems to really be on the ball, and everyone seems to have gotten their invites that I only mailed on Saturday. We've gotten some emails and calls raving about the invitations and the zazzle customized stamps.

So a friend of mine calls me and asks me if she can bring along a friend of hers who I've met maybe twice in the last 10 years and I'm not crazy about. When I had invited her with a guest, I presumed she was bringing her live in BF, not someone else.

Now granted, I have no problems with her bringing who she wants to since she only knows my immediate family. But I feel like she's just bringing someone for the sake of bringing someone since she was invited with a guest.

When I have done the same thing in the past, I was usually b!tched at for it. Do I have a right to be slightly ticked or should I just bite my tongue? I basically already told her, if she feels more comfortable bringing someone with her, then fine, but I wasn't too happy about her choice.

Unfortunately, it dosent seem like you have too much of a choice. When you invited her with a guest, you left the option up to her. But that's all you can do! We can't all be expected to screen who our guests bring with them as guests. Looks like you might have to bite your tongue on this one.

If she has a live-in BF why didn't you put his name on the invite????

Looks like you'll have to bite your tongue on this one!

Be the better person and dont let it bother you too much. There are so many other things worth being upset about.

She never gave me his name even though I asked her for it!!

My only consolation is that we only have maybe 8 people that are invited 'and guest'.

I agree. It stinks that you don't like the person, but you will be so busy enjoying your wedding that you won't even notice they are there!

I'd be ticked if she knows you are not crazy about the person. It seems that she would bring her live-in boyfriend not a person she knows you do not like

I've got a better one FH's aunt is not bringing her HUSBAND. We put their names on the invite but she decided to bring a female friend instead since her husband may want to leave early (they are like 60+). So, his uncle is not coming to his wedding since he MAY want to leave early and his wife decided for him

Re: Would you be ticked?

I know what you mean. I invited my BF, who is in the wedding party with a guest. She is also from Floiday so I felt bad. She is bringing the town drunk. I already told her to MAKE sure he does not ruin my wedding cause I have only seen this guy wasted. I am not too happy since he was not invited but only cause I told her she can bring a guest. Weddings are money and she does not really need to bring him. Needless to say i am piseed but as long as everyone has a good time and acts like an adult I am sure it is no biggie.
Good Luck! I would be pissed but what can you do about rude people.

Janna, all in all, will you really care about it that day? You invited her with a guest, just so happens she is not bringing who you thought. It happens. Please don't stress about it, your wedding day is coming! You should focus on that!!!

Re: Would you be ticked?

Don't let this bother you...Considering you invited her with a guest, you left it open for her to bring whomever she chooses. I don't understand why she would not bring her live in BF, but it is really her discretion!

Remember something, it is your wedding day & chances are, you will not even notice that this guest is there, so be the better person & just deal with it!

Just so you know, you will probably spend like 30 seconds with this person at the max

Janna, don't sweat it - the whole invite/RSVP process is so annoying that this is unfortunately the first of quite a few things that will tick you off.

And trust me, you probably won't even hang out with this person at your wedding!

I have to agree. Janna with all the other things that been going on this is definitely not something you should worry about. Remember most of your Day will be spent with your FH!!! Be the better person and say Hi and ENJOY the rest of your day!!!

Oh I know....one of my best friends, who I know pretty much everyone he knows, said he might bring some girl he's fooling around with. I told him I would rather prefer he brings someone I know than someone I don't know. I don't want to see some flavor of the month he's banging in my pictures, but there's not much I can do about that. I'm hoping he'll surprise me and bring someone I know.

So it's already starting and the invites only went out Saturday. I'm just going to learn to bite my tongue, smile and say 'okay, whatever makes it easier on you!'.

Re: Would you be ticked?

Technically, when you say guest, you mean a BF or FH. We are all adults here, a guest doesn't mean a friend. I think you have every right to say that her that the guest invite was meant for her BF NOT a friend. Also, if she is your real friend, then she should understand that you do not like the person she wants to bring.

I've always said that the person invited to the wedding can bring the guest of their choosing.

Re: Would you be ticked?

I think there are other things to get upset about. Wait till someone asks to bring their baby with them... that will really boil you!

But in all seriousness, I have a few friends who have 'and guest' and they aren't dating anyone in particular. And I've heard who their various dates are 'going to be'..... I have no real problem with these people....Some of them, it's kinda weird as they are someone I know, but didn't invite to my wedding.

But overall, it's not too big of a deal. If you want her there and having a good time, then the right guest might just do that for her!
