Would you be upset about your DH being invited to a RD and you were not?
Original post by Jweb17
DH good friend is having a RD next Sat and we just found out that I wasn't invited when he called to RSVP
Am I crazy to think it's very rude to exclude me as his DW?
Not to mention that this is the same friend that just had a bachelor party in vegas last weekend! Oh and they both have a ton of money and were invited to our RD when we got married

Rehearsal dinners are traditionally just for the bridal party, parents and those invovled directly with the wedding. If my FH was invited to a RD and I wasnt asked to go, I would not be mad or offended. Everyone's budget is different and everyones views are different. RD is just one of those things that some people think that everyone should be invited with a guest and others think that it should be bridal party only. If they are not paying for it the they may be under someone elses control. I wouldnt be mad. JMHO
People expect to be invited to RD with their husband or wife if they are married. If there's change from that, it should be addressed ahead of time (not told to the person when he RSVPs -- especially a good friend like this).
I'm not saying there isn't a valid reason why spouses weren't invited -- but normally, they are. It would have been polite to explain ahead of time that they couldn't be invited due to money constraints or whatever else.

I think its rude. You are engaged. Once this happens, I think you two should always be invitetd as a couple. Once right before FH and i got engaged he was invited to his cousins wedding without me. We thought that was weird- and at the time everyone knew he was going to be purposing to me within a few weeks (except i didn't know!) I understand not inviting people with dates if they are not seeing anyone if your numbers are limited- but serious couples should always be invited together. FH didn't go to that wedding because he found it offensive that they didn't invite me.
I just read your post again- I was thinking you were engaged- but you are already married!! That makes it even more rude!!!!

That is awfully rude--you're his WIFE!
I think that once you are a serious couple, you should both be invited to things.

I guess I just see differently about a lot of things. To each their own.

this happened to my friend---she was a BM in a wedding- her DH was not invited to the RD for $$ reasons- and it was out of state too- so that meant they had to take two cars up to CT (they live on LI) I only met her DH once but I felt bad, so he stayed at my house while she was at the RD- she was so pizzed but the bride was not giving in

Was anyone else in the bridal party invited with their husband or wife?
If no one else was invited then I wouldn't be offended but if anyone else was allowed to bring their spouse I would be upset.

I agree- the only way I would be upset is if I was the only one excluded.

i definitely think it's rude, especially since you are his wife!! for our RD, we're not only inviting all of the spouses/fiances, but we're also inviting the girlfriends/dates of the bridal party, because we think it's just rude not to, especially since most of our bridal party is flying in from all aorund the country, as will their dates. Maybe the FILs are paying and beign really stingy, but I still think it's way rude. i'm sorry!!

Since they were both invited to yours I would be a little upset - maybe they want to keep it small?

I would be upset.. usually SO are invited to the RD.. however I guess it can sometimes be just the BP, I would be offended - especially since you said SO's went to yours.

I think it's rude also! It happened to me when FH was in his friend's BP last year! I have known this friend since we were 16!! But they had a semi-large BP so that was the reason none o fhte sg's were invited.

We are inviting BP only- my FMIL is paying, and her and FH decided it would be that way. It won't make a difference for my girls..only one is married and her husband is staying in Fla with the kids (she's bringing her daughter, my FG and her mom), another has a serious boyfriend, but he's a DJ so he'll be working that night, and my sister's fiance is also in the wedding party. His brother will be married by then, his other brother has a long time girlfriend...but he's going to have to deal with them if they say something.
RDs are traditionally for BP only aren't they? I personally wouldn't be insulted- but I don't really care about things like that. JMHO
I'm with you here. My FIL paid for the RD so I didn't want to impose by inviting our BP's spouses (unless they were of course in the BP). None of them seemed to care.
I've been in more than a few bridal parties and actually have never seen dates, even spouses attend the RD.
BUT I did put my foot down when my SIL wanted to bring her new BF to the RD. I told DH that if my girls can't bring their husbands she can't bring her BF. Everyone was fine with that. I think that would have been a slap in the face to the BP members that are married.
