I heard an ad for egg donors on the radio. They were offering $8k.
I couldn't because I am asthmatic and I can't say what I would do if it was a real option. That's a lot of money. And there must be some personal satisfaction in helping someone get something they really want.

I would but I am getting close to the cut off age. As long as I did not know the recipient, I would donate. I actually may be too old at this point to be a viable donor.
I almost offered to be a surrogate for my sister many years back when she unable to maintain pregnancies but the eggs would have had to have been hers.

I would only do it if it was a close friend/relative. I dont think I would feel comfortable doing it for anyone else. That is a LOT of money, and a lre to do it..but for me I think I definatly would feel weird about it afterwards.

i heard the same commercial today on my way home from work. That is a lot of money. I think I would do it, It wouldnt bother me that someone else would be using my egg to have a child, especially since I am still not sure if I even want any kids of my own. I figure if Im not gonna be using them, why not let other people.

I was going to do this!!!!!!!!
but then i learned that you haev to go through 8 weeks of needles (give yourself shots everyday) and i just couldnt do it!
if i was a guy i'd donate my sperm though

i wouldnt/couldnt think of it as MY child.. since i wouldnt be the one who carried it, raised it etc..... BUT i WOULD be very curious as to what he/she looks like

I wouldn't really think of it as my 'child', no. I would think of it as a part of me though probably yes, given up (or given as a gift) to help an infertile couple.

Even though i didn't raise it...i would still think it is my child..that a part of me is out there...

if I was a surrogate mother, than I would feel like it was MY child, but if it is just donating an egg, than no I dont think I would feel like it was my child.
I would just be donating the egg, its not like I would be carrying it around for nine months.

I don't really know what I'd do....
A male friend of ours is using a surrogate to have a child. He used a donor egg, and another woman to carry the baby. He doesn't consider the egg donor the 'mother' but the woman's who carrying the baby.
I think he paid about 80K!!
His baby shower is in a few weeks, and the baby is due in June!!!

If I was younger I would do it. It is helping someone who obviously wants a child bad enough to go above and beyond. I don't think I would consider the child mine. I would probably look at it like someone who donates a kidney or who has their loved ones organs donated after their death. I would always feel a connection, but in order for a child to be mine I would have to be its mother and I don't think genetics alone makes someone a mother.
