Would you donate your eggs?

I heard an ad for egg donors on the radio. They were offering $8k.

I couldn't because I am asthmatic and I can't say what I would do if it was a real option. That's a lot of money. And there must be some personal satisfaction in helping someone get something they really want.

I don't think I would, you have to go on all sorts of hormoes, it's not easy...I saw a TV show about what women go through when donating eggs, it looked like misery.

No offense, but that's a really dumb question. As far as genetics go, of course it would be your child, but that's as far as it goes. I'm adopted and I would never in a million years consider my birth mother my 'real' mother. In fact, she would have a lot of balls to think of me as 'her' child. She may have carried me for 9 months, but my parents are the people who raised me. And the fact that my mom didn't give birth to me doesn't make her any less my mom. The same as you donating your eggs would not really make the child yours.

No offense, but that was a really rude comment made by you! No questions are dumb on this site, we all use this to help inform and educate each other, please don't change the tone. No one should be made to feel dumb because of their thoughts! Some people donate their eggs but remain involved in the child's life as a close family member, please try to be less insensitive. There are many questions posed on this site, just because you think you have the right answer doesn't mean the question was dumb, or that your answer is right. I have an estranged father, but I consider him my 'real' father (biological) but my 'Dad' is my step-dad who has loved and raised me since I was a toddler. See? Everyone has their own view.
