Would you ever change your e-ring?

Would you ever change your e-ring?

Would you ever change your e-ring now or down the road, or will you keep it exactly the way it is?

I'm torn.. I love my e-ring exactly the way it is and the way FH gave it to me but sometimes I wonder if it might be better to thin the band slightly and/or raise the setting slightly so that a band can sit flush. We havent really looked at wedding bands but I have a feeling that a band won't be able to sit flush with my ring. It's also sliiiiiiiightly big (moreso in the winter) so I'm considering getting it resized. I'd be afraid to do that in the winter though becuase my fingers swell in the summer. (It was still a little on the loose side in the summer but not falling off my finger or anything)

I guess I'll need to see how my ring looks with different wedding bands before I can fully decide, but I'd feel guilty to make any changes to my ring.

It's funny, I never used to pay attention to ANY of that stuff before I was engaged. I didnt know much about diamonds, didnt know a thing about settings and barely even wore any jewelry. I feel so out of the loop with wedding stuff since I'm 1000 miles away and everything I can do from here is pretty much already booked, so I guess rings are the only thing still on my mind! hahaha

I love my ring as is

I would re-size the band if I needed to, but that is all. FH did a great job with it

Re: Would you ever change your e-ring?

i love my ring. its a plain platinum solitaire setting - my diamond is set pretty high and the band is thick. i love it. sometimes i wonder what it would look like if i had a band with diamonds in it but i always liked solitaires and i feel like it will always be in style.....i was worried about what kind of band i would get like you are but when i went to the jeweler she showed me lots of different types of bands. i am having one custom made that will sit against my e-ring band. because of the high setting my band sort of domes up on the sides(there may be a pic in my album) so a lot of the bands i tried were not laying flush against it - my wedding band will be made the shame shape on the sides so that it rests against my e-ring band correctly. its kind of hard to explain without seeing it. you actually wouldnt notice and i didnt until we were trying on bands and none of them would lay flush with my band. the entire top of my band will have round diamonds that are equal the width of my e-ring band (or slightly larger) that are seperated by a vertical bar. almost like half an eternity band but with bars instead of prongs.

im not sure what may happen in the future regarding my e-ring - in 10 years i might want to change my setting - who knows.....i have an open mind about changing the original setting - i dont think there is anything wrong with updating it but for now i absolutely love it and wouldnt change a thing!

my setting was very high and it kept getting caught on things to the point where the stone kept coming loose. I changed the setting to the same one, but just lower.

i love my ering exactly the way it is. i would only ever change it if it needed to be resized.

Re: Would you ever change your e-ring?

the only reason why i would change mine is because the middle stone comes loose once in awhile ...

so i would just get 6 prongs instead of 4

Re: Would you ever change your e-ring?

I've been engaged for 2 1/2 years, and about 6 months ago I changed my setting. We were wedding band shopping, and nothing was sitting flush with the e-ring. FH kept encouraging me to think about changing the setting. My old setting was yellow gold, and he said that if I thought that I wanted platinum, now would be the time to do it so that I can get a platinum wedding band. I kept saying no, but he kept pushing it and said that he thought it was a good idea, so I did it. I felt really bad about it at first and was unsure, but now I'm really happy I did. The stone was his great grandmother's, so that is still the same. I wouldn't have changed it though if he wasn't the one pushing for it.

never! i would resize it but never change anything else! i <3 my ring- and its special b/c fh and I picked it together- maybe some day we'll be able to afford something bigger- but this one has too much meaning behind it- so when we make it big- he can just buy me a diamond tiara and let me retire from work

Re: Would you ever change your e-ring?

i'm considering changing my setting. it doesn't go with the wedding band i want and i want to be able to wear them on the same finger. FH totally doesn't care since he picked it based on what i said i wanted - it's such a super slight difference i want but so far 2 jewelers told me they can't make it that way

but more and more i look at it and don't want to change it, and if i do it will only be for a setting that is exactly what i want (which doesn't seem to exist). So we'll see.

my sister just changed her ering and band for their 15 year anniversary. I don't think there is anything wrong with changing them. styles change, your tastes change.

My e-ring was already changed slightly. FH and I picked it out . When his parents saw it they encouraged him to upgrade. So, when he actually popped the question I was a bit surprised!

that was very smart, it's so much easier to change the setting then having to buy a whole new ring

i love my ring i would never change it, all i would do is resize if i had too.
