Would you ever consider...

Would you ever consider...

Renting a classic corvette or sportscar for wedding pictures and/or possibly driving from/to the church or reception??? (like 1960s or so)

I did this as a surprise for my FH for our wedding day (it was pretty pricey just for an hour because these cars are worth so much). He is a total muscle car nut so he was in heaven. Well, i created a monster, because now he wants to BUY one and start a business where he rents it for pictures/etc. to make a little extra money! He said he thinks lots of people would want to do something like this. I told him I would check with the professionals (i.e., you ladies!) to find out!

Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!!!

I looked into this for our wedding but it was so expensive!! If it was reasonably priced I would definitely consider it.

If my FH was very into cars, we would, but he's not. If it's a passion of his you should give it a shot. How much do those cars go for?

nycmay, i am so surprised to hear that someone else wanted to do this too! what were you looking at? do you mind me asking? i was so SHOCKED to find out (1) how rare this is; and (2) how pricey it can be!!

i figured being so close to NYC, there were bound to be places that offered 'classic' car services where you could rent a classic. but NOOOOOOO! surprising!

anyway, i am not sure what you found nycmay, but to answer your question Kelly, these cars (for purchasing purposes) run anywhere from $20 k to $100 k depending on the condition, the originality and all of these other technical things that I have NO idea about. for renting purposes, i got estimates between $500-1000 for pictures only and one guy who was going to let us have it for 2 hours and let FH drive it (with this guy sitting in the back seat to BABYSIT) was going to let us do that for $1000.
i drew the line at the guy sitting in the backseat!!!! I ended up paying $500 for pictures only for a 1965 vette! I must say, it was pretty cool!!!

My FH would LOVE this!! If you look up car nut in the dictionary you would find his name. He owns 4 cars, which are all registered and on the road. A different car for all occasions. He actually bought me a second car for Christmas. You know a commuter car. If the price was right, he would be interested!

wow, 4 cars! sounds like they are two peas in a pod! does he have any 'classic' cars (like older cars)?? DH is really into the late 60s cars. right now he is looking at a 1967 vette.

i am a little surprised at how positive the reactions are. i thought people would think this was crazy! Thanks for your responses girls!

I went to a wedding where they rented fancy sports cars instead of limos. It was great. I like a change in things every now and then.

Yeah, Lia and Nelson of Imagine had a blast taking phtoos of the Corvette at our wedding, and the bridal party (especially the groomsmen) thought it was really cool!!!

Thanks ladies. If anyone else has an opinion on this I would love to hear it. Really, please be honest!

There's a market for everything. If it's advertised right, I think it would pay itself off and then-some. As long as you check insurance requirements I think it would do well. I know my brother would LOVE that for his wedding.

Let me tell you, I would have been totally looking into it. I would have loved to go to my wedding in a '57 flip top convertible. But of course I don't know where the heck I would even get one. I almost was going to put an ad in the paper that said 'I would pay such and such amount for you to take me to my wedding.' But I went with a limo company and got the classic rolls.

So to answer your question... Yes. lol. Good luck and what a great idea!!!
