Would you ever have your wedding on Sept ember 11th?

Last week i was at a very expensive catering hall. The BM was a jerk, but other than that he was saying how some brides would have their wedding on sept 11th if he lowered the price enough.

I didnt think he was telling the truth, but im just curious what your opinions are on getting married on this day

I wouldnt do it b/c u know alot of people who lost loved ones that would probably attend the wedding and I wouldnt want them to celebrate on their day of mourning.

nope bc if anyone invited lost someone that day i think it would be hard for them to celebrate.

its MY opinion. I know its been years since its happened but...I still get upset on the 11th...i wouldnt want to do that to myself or anyone else.

absolutely not. That is a day of mourning for our entire country.....even if you didn't lose someone, your life changed that day, and I wouldn't want people to feel obligated to be at my wedding on a day like that.

I was going to say yes but then I thought it might be selfish to people who lost loved one. They dont want to be celebrating on that day when there loved ones lost their lives.

So I'd so no. Try getting another date.

One of my bm's lost her father in the 9/11 attacks and I wouldn't have my wedding on that day solely based on that one person, it's a day that she spends with her family. I don't know if anyone else invited lost someone but either way, it's a day I wouldn't choose to get married on.

Never in a million years. My dad used to work in the towers and he lost friends. My mom lost friends. My uncle worked across the street and was there to see it happen. I don’t care if the whole wedding was free, I couldn’t do it on that day.

i kno a few people with that as their bday

ps...my cuzins wedding was the like a week after the attacks that year...she almost called it off...but we actually had a song that was dedicated and all our emotions were out of wack...people were cryin n huggin happy to be alive. it sounds lame but it was a hard choice for her to keep that day as her wedidng day.

I would definitely NOT have a wedding on September 11th. I wouldnt want to get married on a day associated with so much pain and death. Same reason why I wouldnt get married on Good Friday either.

That's FH's birthday also so I wouldn't have it on that day just for that reason but even it wasn't I don't think I'd have it on that day.

hmm, on one hand, I guess it shouldn't matter b/c its just another day and we shouldn't put our lives on hold- ya know, like the 'don't let them stop us' moto,

but, is is a day of mourning for a lot of people, expecialy in our area and so many people lost loved ones that day that I think it would be sad for people to celebrate on that day. (and kinda insensitive for a bride and groom to ask ppl to celebrate your day on that day because you are saving $)

So I wouldn't do it just for that reason.

Maybe if you want to commemorate the loss of a loved one on tht day or something. I know wome people purposly get married on the anniversary of someones death to change the date to a happy celebration and a celebration of their live

ETA, I have heard of RHs giving better prices on that date, but there is obviously a reason for that, so thre is your answer

I, personally, would not, however, isn't memorial day supposed to be a day of remembrance for soldiers who have passed on? Lots of people get married on memorial day!

In '05 I went to a wedding on 9/11. I thought it was a litte weird but I looked around and it was so nice to see people happy and celebrating life and the future.

It was also nice to get away from the 24hr coverage of that day.
