Would you ever name your children a Jr?

My DH wants a Jr, but I am not a big fan of it.

I told DH that he will forever be known as Big Vinny!!!

Can you be a Jr, even if you are ot named after your father?

What about the same name as DH's father? or does it not work that way.

My DH wants a JR. and I say 'no way'
Practically everyone in his family and mine have JR's. My father was Eugene, his dad and my great grandfather. They all lived in the same 2 family house at one point..imagine the phone and mail confusion!

Al's a JR, so thats not an option for us. But I think I've persuaded him away from a III.

I'm not a big fan of giving kids the same name as someone else, but even more than that, I really don't like his name

Yes I would, but I think it's only because I was brought up in a family of Jr's, every cousin of mine was a Jr., until just recently. If DH wants a Jr. he'll hopefully get one... he however, doesn't want one

Edited to add after reading a few more posts: Neither my brother or my cousins were ever called JUNIOR, I think that would totally have turned me off! Ex: My dad was always Chris, but as the son, my brother was always Christopher... Uncle was Ray and cousin was Raymond. The son always had the full name going...

DH is a jr and I definetly will not have a III. There are too many Tom's on his side of the family to have another one.

I want a Jr. I love my FI's name (Michael James) and I think it would be an honor for my FI (when we have children my DH ) to have a Jr.

NO, NO, NO , NO ,NO , NO!!!!!!

Get my point

My husband is a junior and he is called junie or junior. I cannot stand that. He cannot even be called by his name. CAN'T STAND IT!!!!

So needless to say there will be no III. I was very adamant about that with him. My child will have his OWN name.

Nope!!!

My brother is a Jr and it was a big PITA! It was Big Rich and little rich.

I did however give Damien the middle name of Richard to honor my father and brother.

I do not like this at all. I like some variety in names. DH and dad have same first name and DH insists first boy must also have the same name. I will not allow it. No way...not into that. I say we have too many Lou's. He says he wants to honor his dad. I say if we honor his dad we have to honor mine and tell him my dad's full long unusual Lithuanian name and it usually stops DH in his tracks.

I told him I would accept it for a middle name but not first name.

NO! Everyone always winds up calling the JR 'little xx' and before you know it the poor kid is 24 years old and 6' tall and still being called 'little xx'. No way....not my kids.

Yes.. I would.. I like the sense of family tradition. So when you kids are old & gray they can have some connection to their past.

My Grandma is named Madeline, my mom is named Madeline and I intend on naming my girl Madeline.

My brother is a JR ,My nephew has the same name but has a middle name (my dad and brother do not) so he is not a III but it has created an issue with addressing the three of them!

I will not have a JR, I just dont like it! Even though I really like my FH name!
