DH was a junior...(technically...but I'm not sure if it qualifies since his father died before he was born...he didn't have to deal with the sr. / jr issues)
he doesn't really car...but I think I would like to use his name as a middle name or another variation if it is first (like Jack for John)

No way!! There are a million names out there, why name your kid the same thing? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

I would consider it but only because Brian happens to be one of my favorite names!! FH is opposed however, he wants his son to have his own identity. I don't blame him, but it is hard for me because I associate such wonderful things with his name!!

NO!!
Even though my brother is not junior (he & my dad have the same first name but different middle names) it was always very annoying when someone called on the phone for 'Henry'!!!! Yeah, WHICH ONE??????

No. Patrick hated being 'Little Pat' all his life and didn't want to do that to his son. We just used Patrick as Nicky's middle name.

Nope, my DH is a Jr., so it's not really an issue, but we don't plan on using 'III' either....

FH is the 3rd and he said if we ever had a boy he wouldn't be the 4th, so I'll venture to say no.

i would name a child junior. my brother is a III and now with twins on the way, his wife is adamant that there not be a 4th!!!!!

I'm not into the Jr. thing...I'll either take my children's names from our relatives that have passed already, or we'll come up with new names but I don't like when everyone has the same name.

My son Matthew is a junior. My husband has always been called Matt and so we call our son Matthew or Matty. It was my DH's dream tohave a junior since the name Matthew means 'Gift from God'
